Evening all,

After adding a provari to the Ego-centric collection, I thought I'd try the Vivi Nova and mini. I'm having problems and was just after a bit of advice.

Vivi Nova- leaks like a good'un, taste is ok but not great.
Mini - Burnt taste; took it apart and the wicks are burnt as is the mesh material.

So, just a quick one- is this typical? Should I stick with the Kanger T2 and T3 + a 510 adapter on the Provari, or is there more I could be doing? Or... just forget the Novas and move onto something else?

i wish the shops selling thease would tell everyone this; befor you fill it take out the base, now take the small silicon cap with the pip sticking out off, you should see the coils put 1 or 2 drops of juice on it. put cap back on and the rest back together, fill and let set until you can not see the wicks about 10 min. the reason for that couple of drops down on the coil is 2-fold first jumpstarts the wicking and second protects just incase you fire to quick befor its soaked will give an off taste but not fry. you can use this method with stardusts w/tweezers, kanger t2, and the t3 with a syringe. I personally havent had a rotton one since i started this(allthough i feel ive been lucky avoiding the duds) so take this for what its worth, it cant hurt, doesn't take much time maybe a coincidence but worth the effort if i ever get a dud and have done this i'm gonna post somewhere cause I tell this to everybody and feel it works but will be honest when it doesnt...tell your friends too if it works for ya

Also, at what voltage are you running the Vision Vivi Nova and Mini? With a 2.4 ohm head, and 70% PG / 30% VG, fairly clear e-liquids, I find that 3.3-3.5 volts is about right. Any voltage above 4.0 is brutal on them, in my experience.

If you're having leaking problems with brand-new Vivis, disassemble them. Both the cap and the base should have a white vinyl o-ring sealing them. It's possible that either the Vivis weren't screwed down enough for the o-rings to work (or shook loose during shipping), or they got mashed when they were assembled. If the o-rings aren't there or are damaged, I've found teflon tape wound around the threads of the cylinder to fix the leaking problem. Finally, make sure everything is screwed together somewhat more firmly than just finger-tight.

My Nova leaked like crazy at first too. Then I noticed a little clear rubber sleeve with a metal disc with a hole in the middle, set on top of one of the spare heads. It creates a seal between the head and your drip tip. The head that came installed on the Nova did not have this sleeve, which is essential to leak-proofing. Having never owned a Nova, I didn't know to look for it. Maybe yours is missing too?

Genuine Vision Vivi Novas come in a black box with a foam insert containing the Vivi Nova plus two extra heads of different resistances. On front and back, the box says "Vivi Nova" in a white rectangle. The first "V" shows two additional right diagonal strokes within the "V."

In addition, the sides of the box say "VISION Vivi Nova." Also, genuine Vision Vivi Novas have the quantities along the vertical scale with two digits to the right of the decimal point: "0.50 ml," "1.00 ml," "1.50 ml," and "2.00 ml." Most of the clones state the numbers with one digit: "0.5 ml," "1.0 ml," "1.5 ml," and "2.0 ml."

Here's a picture:

Hope this helps!

Hi Nix, Don't give up on the mini. Just like the T2 replacement heads, sometimes not cleaning before first use can make for a bad vape. I know that, but we get in a hurry and want to use it. I started out badly with the mini also and after the first cleaning it got alot better. I dry burn every time I clean it and was able to go from Nov. 5 to Feb. 22 before the first head burned out[1.8 ohm]. Good luck

Indeed, JUDGMENT AFFIRMED, sometimes genuine Vision Vivi Nova heads last forever and ever.

I have one (2.4 ohms) that's had about 150 ml. of menthol e-liquid run through it since late October.

Every 40-50 ml. I take it apart, clean it in hot water with the help of an ultrasonic cleaner, reassemble it, dry burn it, refill it and vape away.

Hi mostlyclassics, Yes, I agree and am surprised how long the coils are lasting.....if I would have known, I probably wouldn't have bought so much

I bough a genuine vision vivi nova from gotvapes for 12.95, It works awesome, no burning taste. My first Vivi nova I bought from a B&M for 16.95, at the time I didn't realize it was a knockoff. The packaging looked similar minus the smoke on the back, and there was no red in the V of Vivi. Every 3 toots it tasted burnt and I had to turn it upside down and shake for it to wick and for some reason probably having to do with the coil and wick, it made my juice very dark.

I'm starting to not like B&M shops because of the overpriced knockoffs they sell. I understand they have more overhead to deal with, but i will gladly pay the extra for a product that will actually work instead of a POS knockoff. Don't sell me a knockoff in a package that looks like a genuine product!

End result is the Nova is working like a champ. I tried every tip that you guys gave me and each one added to the end result, thank you.

I'll list out what I did in case it helps others:

The based and top were done up far too tight, negating the purpose of the o-rings. I had to use pliers (!) to under the base as it was so tight. I find that the o-rings can flare out and break the seal if there is too much pressure (it's true of my under sink plumbing and figured it would be the same here). I retightened and did the same with the top- firmly done, but not super tight.

Liquid on the coil- top tip!! I took off the plastic cap (the one with the small washer-like metal ring in it) and applied a good amount of juice. I watched it soak in and repeated. Cap back on, and I was good to go.

Screwed the atty head in, double checked the drip tip.

I noticed at this point that due to the prior bad taste/burning, that the drip tip was contaminated with this smell. I washed it out using foaming hand soap and gave it a good dry.

Happy days!

Finally re: genuine goods. Mine is the same as pictures posted by Mostylclassics. the only info I can add here is that on the other narrow side on the box it has the CE mark, "RoHS", "SGS" and the white V with 2 red lines.

The box I photoed must have been from an older batch. Apparently, the EU requires those newer markings. I've seen the same markings on newer 18650 AW IMR batteries.
