Hi,
Today i got my vision spinner 1300mah. Putted it on the charger, the button lighted up 5-6 times stayed on and the ego charger had the green light only so i thought it was full. Used the battery for good 3-4 hours, put it back on the charger and same thing. The vision white light blinked 5 times and stayed on but on the ego charger only the green light is on. Is it charging or not ?

Make sure it's off before charging. Test by pushing button once before connecting to charger. If button lights push again five times in rapid succession until it passes the test.

Correct. If light does not turn red on charger after use, click 5 times quickly to turn it off. The light on the charger will then turn red.

does it matter if i use a 450mah charger instead of a 420 ???
Yes the charger is working

No It does not.

The charger has to turn red--if it doesn't, it's not charging. You may want to unplug the charger and plug it back in--it reboots the charger if it's stuck, :D Also, make sure that your charger threads are clean--use a q-tip or an old toothbrush dipped in 91% Isopropyl alcohol. Don't overtighten your your battery--if you screw it on too tightly, you may push the center pin into the battery and it won't make proper electrical contact. If your battery's pin has been pushed in, you may try to--very gently--try to raise it a hair. Use a tiny screwdriver or a paper clip to wiggle it up, from all sides, just a little bit.

Are you using a wall adapter or your computer's USB port. Sometimes those USB ports are finicky. I always use a wall adapter with my eGo chargers. You can use a joyetech or a generic wall adapter:

I use a generic adpter with following specs:

Input: Dc 5v, 500 mA
Output: DC 4.2v, 420 mA

Also, can't answer the 420 vs 450 mAh question but would think that it's ok to use if it fits without forcing it. It would also charge slightly faster.

Correct. As long as the charger's output is lower than battery capacity, it's safe to use.

However, you can't use a 420 mA output charger with a 180 mAh battery.

yes the light on the ego will remain on until it is fully charged....the light on the charger should be red and then turn green when the ego is charged but sometimes it will be green if the ego is let's say "90%" charged but the light on the ego will still be lit....if in about 20 minutes the light on the ego doesn't go off then there might be an issue with the charger/ego...i'd venture to say the charger...

check all connections and clean them (charger and ego)

and no you shouldn't have to turn the ego off to charge, it is recommended that you do so but I always tend to forget

[edit]think about it like this if any of you use battery pro or some other app to charge your phones....when the charger is green and the ego light is still on it's the "trickle" charge to insure it is a full charge cycle.....

Technically don't think any ill adverse effects will result. just seems to me good idea to turn off the internal circuit prior to charging since OP was having problems. trying to help eliminate all possible causes of issues.

Here is some technical Li-Ion charging info;

Charging Lithium-Ion Batteries

Oh, I agree. You're correct!

The problem is, some of us are so used to charging batteries that cannot be turned off (minis, regular eGos and Riva, replaceable batteries) that we don't even think about it. I only own three batteries that have an off switch--and I don't use them that often.

But thanks for pointing that out. :)
