Hey Errol! I don't like to mess with them. I can't see to good anyways and I'm all thumbs besides. I still have new replacement innards so maybe now that I've cooled down I might dig it out of the trash and see if I can put it together again, if not I will send them to you if you want them. I'm still having good luck with my stardust cartos but they don't hold enough juice for me. I've been using 3ml cartos for too long to enjoy anything smaller but I do like being able to see how much juice I have in them.

I'm all you describe. :) Been messing with mine since making that earlier post and it's difficult. I have a little vice to hold things and a lighted magnifier and it's still tough. Had to put it aside for a while, try later. Afraid I wouldn't recommend it to anyone without soldering experience and jewelers eyes and hands. :)

Frustrated with the C8s and came looking here to see if these are better. I guess not. Hopefully the Phoenix line is worth the wait, but I'm losing hope quickly.

I just got five of the new ce3 bottom coil clearomizers today and in my opinion the bottom coils without the wicks are the future of clearomizers. There are several things I don't like about them but the bottom coil design is great.

Are these the same as those reviewed by Steve K? Of all my Clearos I have been particularly pleased with the Stone and Vision Deux purchased from GotVapes and am curious how your CE3 compares to them and where you bought them?

CE3 XL Clearomizers Review - Better than the Smokymizer?

Being a bottom feeder, Steve's idea of cutting one down and using it as a dripper to test flavors appeal to me. :)

"It's actually a really good dripping atomizer. I use mine to sample new juice flavors. It's easy to rinse out since there's no bridge and the tube can easily be removed to expose the heating element."

I got mine at the same place he did. The only thing I don't like about them is the small needle needed to fill them but I was able to force a larger needle through the small hole which, with my poor eyesight, is hard to find. I haven't had any dry hits on mine and they produce very good flavor, better than the stardust or Stone for me. They don't hold enough juice for me but GV is getting one that holds 2.5 ml I think. They would make a good dripper!:2cool:

Thanks Tex, I'll probably give them a try, the dripping without the leaking is an extra I can appreciate.

Your comment about eyesight reminded me I want a better lighted magnifier. Some fairly good deals on Ebay, some with free shipping that I found attractive.

Update on Stone III: I was able to get it working by inserting the expansion ring inside the bottom and using a tweezers to push the wire so that it touched the tab on the expansion ring.

I imagine a good bump would knock the wire out of place, so I'm not taking it out and about.

Still can't recommend these due to the combination of the short wire and weak solder joint.

Will there be an improved version of the innards for the Stone III or is Vision moving on to something else?

GV is usually more on top of problems like this. I for one would like to know what the plans are for the future of these innards are. While $8.85 for three V3 innards isn't the most I've wasted on bad choices, it's still enough to sting a little.

Being as the V1 Stone was one of my favorites I ordered one piece innards for the V2 thinking it would fit my V1, it doesn't, but it does fit the V3 tank so I wasn't completely out of luck with my new tank with broken innards.

BTW I like your avatar Gloria, one of the best. :)

Hate to hear that Tex, they have a great heating coil and surely you have a small soldering iron and solder. Dig it back out of the trash can and save it. I'll be doing a repair soon and will post what I find to be the easiest way to do it.

May even take some pictures if I can ever figure out to to post them with decent visual quality.

I haven't tried to solder an extension on my broken wires yet and then was thinking that maybe solder is not the best material to have potentially leaching into juice. Most solder is a tin/lead alloy. If you notice, the wire was originally crimped to the tab on the ring, not soldered. I don't suppose the lead contamination would be very high, if any, but any potential amount is too high IMO.

Maybe just crimping a small piece of aluminum foil to the wire would do it. Both my V3's are rockin' great right now, but when it comes time to replace the innards i'll give it a try.

you can get lead free solder at rat shack.
and i thought i heard somewhere that alum is not really good for ejuice contact too idk
though i wont recommend it for obvious reasons i have used regular solder and washed it good and didn't notice any change or effect on the juice.
doesn't mean there isn't any though.

Just took a closer look at a couple of tank innards under a magnifier and you are partially right. The connections appear to be an arc type connection where the wire is fused at the connection point including the tab on the expansion ring. Could see no solder at any of the connections.

Not concerned with using solder as a few parts per million, possibly billion of most anything doesn't bother me much when the total potentially contaminated product is one or two ml per day as apposed to pints or quarts as long as I can't taste it. :)

I successfully soldered a small piece of single-strand wire to the end of the existing wire. The extension was about 1/2" long and i stripped about 1/8" off the end and fitted it between the base and the metal ring. Works like a champ.

Good for you, that will be the tough part for me. I managed to get a wire soldered to the tab on the extension ring but lost interest for a while on finishing it. :)
