Try changing the coil. Often new Cartos come tasting burnt. Changing to a new coil almost always solves this.
mine does the samething. It is disgusting. It tasts so burnt and muted. It is a new coil.
...and make sure you fill it to the proper full amount, and allow it to soak into the coil before you hit it the first time. if you hit it while it was still dry, you burned it and might as well change to a new coil like MistHub said.
Also, new units sometimes have trace amounts of machine-oil present; after you vape a few ml's through it, the machine oil will be gone and you should start getting that quality flavor you paid for.

Did you clean it thoroughly before you used it?
What resistance is the head (if you know) and what voltage/wattage are you running it at?
The coil may be choking the wick, open it up and look at the coil, if it looks to be squeezing the wick, its choking.
Gently pull the wick side to side, taking care not to destroy the coil wrap, and hopefully it will loosen up and begin wicking better.

Also, those seem to need constant tipping to the side to make sure it's wet up by the head. Good luck, most people either love them things, or absolutely hate them.
Sumtimes my novas will taste burn if there.bing fired to hot I never run min over about 3.3 with a regulated vv divice and once in a whille I wil put one on a ego styill bat and they do taste burnt because the bat is just a bit to hot for the coil when its fully chareged u could try a higher om coil
The aforementioned advice may work but I'm with fundoodman. A friend of mine has a vivi nova and I don't care for it at all. I absolutely love the Kanger bottom coil units and would highly recommend trying either the Protank or T3.
I went from an iclear 30 to vivi nova (2 days) to a protank i and so on... I couldn't stand the tight draw on the vivi nova and that foul taste it gave to my vapor. Maybe I should take my vivi out of storage and see if I could get it working properly..
let the juice settle a little bit......i havent had too many issues with them although I think the protank is a better choice........
I ran it at 3.7 v and 5.5 w... I have a pro tank as well but just wanted something to have handy when I wanted to switch juices. I changed the coil filled it up and am going to let it sit over night and see if that helps. Thanks for all the answers!
Thanks for asking, OP. I have to change out the coil and give the liquid time to settle too...happy that I may not have to give up my pretty red vivi. It was nasty...but after reading this post, I realize user error may be the cause.
