Hi, about a week ago I bought a nova 3.5ml tank, but Im unsure what version it is, please can someone shed any light on the differences between the different versions of these ?? . Initially I was very happy with the nova lots of vaper, very easy to re-fill, re-build and lots of options to tweek, but after a day of use I started to get a sore throat I have been vaping for a while now and never had this before with other tanks, carts so I started to look for a reason at first I thought it might be fibers from the wick material so I inserted a filter in the drip tip and this resolved the the sore throat issue , after a weeks use I thought I would give it a good clean out and on close examination of the tank after it was cleaned I noticed very small hair line cracks on the in side of the tank and now I wondering if it was this that was causing my sore thoat . I understand that the martial of the tank was changed on version 2 or 2.5? Im hoping my tank is a older version and this is what has caused this problem.
thanks.

Version 1 had the longer wicks and the bottom part where it screwed onto your battery stuck out a little bit farther than it should.

Version 2 has the short wicks and no protrusion on the bottom. There are known issues with certain juices cracking those tanks.

Version 2.5 has the longer wicks and the tank is supposed to be resistant to cracking issues although you can't see a visible difference between it and Version 2 by the tank.

What juice were you vaping in it?

Thanks for the reply,
it looks like I have version 1 ( long wicks and sticky out pin at the battery connection ) , the initial juice was tw 18mg tobacco flavour, the throat issue started more or less straight away ( within a couple of good vapes ) at first I just put it down to the tank not being broken in yet but after 2 or 3 re-fills it didnt get any better then thought it maybe to do with the juice so changed to a blackberry flavour mix, again after 2-3 re-fills it still didn't get any better so thats when i inserted the filter in the drip tip and the throat issue went away, I could buy a ali tube for it ( sort it out once and for all ) but the problem with that is you cant see when it needs re-filling .

First I've heard of this. Good chance it's not related. V2.5 for me and never any throat issues. Just curious, what filter did you put in the drip tip? It probably just attenuated the overall vapor you were getting.

I used 2 layers of some 400 SS mesh as a filter, there was no noticeable flavour or overall vaping taste/hit difference but did stop the throat irritation.

Version 1 did have issues as well with the tanks cracking on certain juices. Never heard of it with the tobacco type juices. The blackberry could be the culprit on the cracking. I have read that it is mostly citric acids in some of the fruity juices.

Some people have issues with the throat from a drying out effect when vaping. You should also increase your water intake if you haven't already. Does your throat get dry feeling when you vape?

You should also see a doctor regarding the sore throat- could be another issue entirely.

Just my :2c:

you could be right about the blackcurrent causing the cracks as I didnt really look at the tank when I changed the juice from the Tobacco flavour . I haven't had a problem before with my throat feeling dry when I vape , I did up my water intake as this did easy the throat issue ( dont get me wrong the throat thing was not major or really sore it was just a noticeable difference from my previous tank that I was using )

This thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/284030-wick-materials-safe-vs-dangerous.html#post5717639 has some alternatives for rewicking, for better flavor, better vapor.

Regarding the tanks, (I have both V2 and V2.5) and no signs of cracking vaping DIY lemon, no sweetener, no additives, no problems. Not sure if it's something added into commercial mixed juice but my tanks, clearos, or any plastics have had a problem (other than physical harm, I drop things a lot..) And I've mixed many flavors people have reported problems with, and my DIY works fine.:)

I got ya'. Yeah, not too sure on that one. How long have you been vaping in general?

There is a video on Youtube regarding changing the wick over to a specific cotton material. If you search Vivi Nova Cotton you will see it. I am actually getting ready to do just that tomorrow. I bought the cotton today and boiled it and am now just letting it dry.

I have only been vaping for around 8 weeks total so Im pretty new to it and still learning , I have tried many different systems and mixes of jucies in those 8 weeks ( spent to much money  ) . I have already seen the tube vid about changing the wick and may give this ago myself ( once I get a new tank ) ,

Ok. When you do order a new tank, make sure you get the Version 2 or 2.5. I have the Version 2 and I have used one acidic juice flavor with no issues like stosh mentioned above.
