Okay so I really like my Vivi nova it's so far my favorite top coil tank (have not tried an IClear 30 yet, something about bills and food or other such nonsense). But I ran into a bit of trouble the other day. I tossed in a bit of Johnson's Creek Original and this sucker basically craped out on me. Not vape no juice no nothing. The head was cleaned, set out to dry for a few hours and dry burned for good measure.
I am using the default 2.4 Ohm head that comes attached out of the box and have to run it at almost five volts to get good flavor and vapor, I've always got the burned juice taste above about 4.4 on this head with other juices. It also took about a day before the juice really started to kick in good.

My question is, is it juice the juice that needs a bit of higher volts or is there juice out there that's just really hard on these heads?

In my experience with the Vivi Nova, the 2.4 heads were never anywhere close to 2.4. Every one I ever tried was anywhere from 2.7 to 3.2 and rose usually .2 or .3 before they finally became unusable.

I've never tried the juice you mentioned but I always noticed that darker and/or sweeter juices gunked the coils up much faster than light, non-sweet juices.

A few things that made them perform less than stellar for me:
1. Long wicks - Especially for a thicker juice. I would always trim them to just touching the side of the tank
2. The little cup the coil sits in - if it wasn't in good shape, it seemed to choke the wick. Most of them I cut into a wide 'V' shape
3. The white tube inside the drip tip - Don't even know why they would have done this other than to tighten up the draw. Always just used a stainless tip anyway
4. Drip tip not seating all the way down - Some of the first ones you really had to put some pressure on it to get the drip tip in all the way
5. Head not tightened up enough - usually causes flooding but not always depending on the juice. Could affect the electrical continuity
6. Flavour wicks - at some point they started laying flavour wicks on top of the coil. No matter what juice I tried, this ALWAYS failed to be a good thing

It might help you to take it all apart and give the head a good soak in PGA. Maybe something's just dirty enough somewhere to keep it from wicking properly. Maybe just a little dry burning will help.

Hope something helps you out in some way or another.

Edit: after re-reading this I went off on a bit of a tangent, but believe it is relevant.

I don't have any issues with the Mini Nova's on ego-c twist. So far, they are the first ones I bought and the ones I like the most
I have 3 of them, and they all perform very well for me.
Tried the Kanger T3's and I do not like them.

No coils are going to be exactly on ohm. But, I will attest that the factory coils can be off by a lot.

But, they can be rebuilt and I use the 4/40 screw method Machine screw coil wrap for Vivi Nova / Kanger T3 - YouTube
I have also tried cotton yarn (Peaches-n-Creme from walmart, boiled for 20min).
I am still testing that theory, not sure I like it, or that it is a good idea to use.
Also tried the cheese cloth, but will need to revisit that at a later time.
I use silica wick in all of mine and it is still working well.
I will also be looking at some other tanks,, not sure I will be trying any bottom feeders though.
Not interested in Cartomizers either. I like the Mini Novas, so will look at the regular nova's later, and similar tanks.

As for juice, yes, some juice taste better at different voltage. it depends on the flavors.
I have an RY4 type that I make that is better at around 2.6+/- ohm at 4v
but I have a sweet Brandy I make with Cotton Candy that is better about around 3.4v +/- at 2.3ohm
I also have a no nic Strawberries and Bavarian Creme that is good at around 3.8v on 2.3ohm

as stated above, the sweeter stuff may gunk up coils faster.

These are all +/- a few tenths or whatever, they could be between 2 and 3ohms from factory.
Had one I think was reading pretty high.

Also of note, even on new atty's (rebuilt or not), you have to kind of break them in a little bit.
At the right voltage, they will vape better as you use them (not days, but minutes)
I will power vape a new coil and wick before I start trying to enjoy it.

Power Vape = hit it faster and hard for several puffs and get it going, then stop and repeat about 5 times about 20sec between
also good to let them sit a several minutes (20+min) after that and let them saturate the wick really good.

Then hit them slow and let the vapor flow over the tongue on about a 4sec burn.
You do not need to inhale every time, then let it just rest. you will get the best flavor out of your juice.
eCig's are not like analogs, trying to use them the same way may result in an underwhelming experience.

A lot of this is really subjective. there is no right answer, you have to try different techniques, settings possibly setups/equipment to find what works best for you.
