I think I am weird because I don't mind the occasional hot splash of juice on my tongue. If you are using a variable voltage device you could consider reducing the voltage a touch, this might help.
On the inside of the drip tip of the vivi nova, there should be a little plastic ring or grommet. Make sure this is pushed all the way down to the end of the tip closest to the top of the tank (clearo) This will help block a few of those drops. You might also consider a longer drip tip as jtracc mentioned.
With the CE5, there is no plastic ring in there, so all you can do is use a longer drip tip. You will probably have to buy a converter because the drip tip on the CE5 is threaded and just doesn't push in. You can get those too.
EDIT - Just re-read your post - as you are not having an issue with the vivi nova, you might want to see if you can push that little plastic ring out with a q-tip and put it in the CE5 drip tip - see if that fixes the issue.
