That's so sad. It's barely worth the $30ish I paid for them. Only bought the 2nd one to gut it and make a 100W hammond box with. The chip isn't bad, but the craftsmanship of the body sucks.
That's exactly what i was thinking.It's a great $30 high watt mod,but if i would have paid more i would be a bit upset haha.
How did you get the chip out?My son has one that is acting up and i tried to get it apart,but couldn't figure out how to pull the chip without screwing it up.

Materials Cost
Vinyl Cutting Machinery
Software program cost
Person hrs- labor <Setup, Cut, packaging, shipping>

Average Skin $6-$9 > Most are individual, single cut request

Yep, way pricey :rolleyes:

I'm thinking we Buy $30-$40 mods because we want to, as opposed to more expensive
I'd think one would buy an $8 skin because they want to.

Maybe some have tight budgets and maybe should not be looking for extra's, much less complaining about price.

* Before anyone starts - I am one of those. I carefully choose where my few extra dollars will go.
I have one Mod which adorns a Skin. I passed on a desired, but not necessary RDA in preference to cover a failed paint covering(ipv-mini2) I also shopped until I found both Price and style acceptable.

The above quoted $6-$9 is a good average market price - Below will be cheap Garbage and above is pushing higher profits.

Your entitled to your opinion of course but as usual we completely disagree, nothing wrong with that though.

There is always DIY

How did you get the chip out?
I haven't yet. I'm going to look at it this weekend though. It can't be too hard. The 1st one I bought 2 months ago and it's already on it's last leg. The 510 connector is wiggling around and is about ready to pop out, so it's practically garbage now anyway. If I have to tear it up to figure it out, no loss. It looks like the battery sled should slide out fairly easily and give access to the board from inside the battery compartment.

I'm a strong supporter of DIY, the Pre-cut vinyl stuff is of course going to be more costly, after all whoever is selling the pre-cut stuff is going to have to buy at least a somewhat cheap Plotter($1000) to reliably cut consistently sized wrap covers and I'm sure that goes in to the price more for some companies than others, all depends on how fast they want to pay off the plotter and how much they paid for it. Couldn't imagine someone supplying a large amount of pre-cut wraps without a plotter, so that has to be in the price.

Unless you're trying to wrap something exceptionally tricky IN MY OPINION using a pre-cut kit can actually be harder than just applying the wrap and very carefully cutting out the excess material, this way you can spend $0.99 on a 3"x5" sample of Vinyl and wrap your whole device with it. Most vinyl sites will provide samples of a 3x5" size or equivalent for around $0.99.

I prefer highly to use a flat sheet of vinyl and cut-out everything required while it is being installed, of course this is going to take a lot of practice to do correctly and cleanly but you can practice five times for a total of $5 if you go the route of buying samples. Hell, you could even buy a cheap/nice Olfa light duty cutting knife(what I use) and 3-4 pieces of vinyl samples for less than most of these pre-cut kits.

Both of these were wrapped with regular flat sample sheets and cut after the fact;

The Lethal box started out black, which I wrapped with 3M Atomic Teal, the Nemesis was brass and I chose the thick Hexis simulated leather vinyl because the extra thickness hid the tube seam which I wrapped over, making it look much more smooth and seamless.

Realistically pretty much any tube mod can be covered by a 3"x5" sample, there are also larger samples available for just a bit more if you have a larger box mod. 12x12 samples are $4.99, which is enough to wrap or practice wrapping pretty much any mod three times, if not more.

Skill = finish results :)

For a lot of people, installing vinyls would be like a kid learning to color........ With Practice, they will eventually get it right.

I tried google and all i have found is stuff about the 510 issue,which lucky for you,that is an easy fix,most have just lifted the top,then put epoxy around the bottom side of the 510.
It does look like the battery tray will slide out,and i can get it to move,but not to come out,the chip i can't get to move at all.I just ordered my son a new one today though,so now i can go full on with this one and either completely ruin it or get it fixed one of the 2 haha.
