I was just wondering, does anyone know if there is safety features built in an Inferno, other than the 5-click turn off/on? I guess it's similar to a Joyetech Ego, but there might be some differences.

Li-ion batteries require caution, that I know, and if you buy some knock-off and charge it in in a crappy charger, there probably is more of a risk of things getting ugly - but do I need to worry? With my Lavatube I use IMR batteries, which I am more confident with, but I'm almost starting to like the Inferno more because of it's size (and it vapes awesome with the new BCT). I can't help but to feel a little bit nervous using it though, having read up on many horror stories (all cases probably cheaper stuff though, handled with uncaution).

Another question, is there a risk of the thing blowing up in my face while vaping on it? If yes, how could it do that? Aren't there some kind of venting in the battery? Most of the stories I've read are of the battery charging, and one case was a guy who dropped it, causing it to go off like a firework.

I'm probably being too paranoid now, but it's a scary thought of having it explode in your face, haha.

Hi Heders and welcome to ECF! I don't know the Volcano line of hardware specifically, so I can only give you my opinion on them. The most important safety features for the battery are over current and short protection. These batteries are rebranded eGo type batteries from whichever supplier they work with. All eGo batteries have these features. If they didn't, it would only be a matter of time before one would catch on fire, possibly violently. At the price they are selling that kit for, the batteries should be good.

I have never heard of a eGo battery exploding while being vaped on and there must be millions of them out there. As you said, problems happen during charging, using the wrong charger, charging in a hot car, etc. Now, any li-ion battery has the potential to burn when abused and that can happen because of equipment failure so I never leave my batteries on charge overnight or if I leave the house, never use a coil that's below about 1.8 ohms, etc. Normal battery safety stuff.

Thank you for the warm welcome and great answer! I feel much safer now knowing they have over current and short protection. I was almost to the point thinking they didn't, which would be a real disaster as you say.

Cheers, and vape on! Thanks again!

Follow up question by the way. Before, the Volcano Inferno came with a Tube Tank (a cartomizer tank) instead of the new BCT version. I have the older model for my Lavatube, and it seems it fits the Inferno with the 510 connection.

The only cartomizer I have left for it though is a dual coil carto at 1.5 ohm. You wrote never to use anything below 1.8, so I was just wondering if anyone knows if 1.5 ohms would be OK on it? I tried it quickly and it seems to vape like a champ.

The long and short is, not the best idea for your battery. Anything dual coil is not so recommended on eGo/eGo style batteries.

That being said, it can be done so, at your own risk. These have excessive current demands from the atty/carto etc... those are intended for use with high drain batteries that can take the punishment. eGo style batteries are not high drain.

It will physically work - but you will probably notice a dramatic decrease in vape-time on a full charge and you may be severely shortening the longevity of your battery.

Thanks a lot for your answer! *unscrews the tank from my Ego battery*

How is it with single coil 3.0 ohm cartomizers on an ego? Same thing? The bottom fed coils I got with the Inferno device are all 1.8 ohms - so 3.0 seems quite far away, but I don't know. I'm guessing lower ohms can be more of an issue than higher ohms on an ego and safety wise in general.

I beieve your battery fires at 3.7 volts so 3.0 ohms would be too high and give a weak vape. "Generally" anything from 1.8- 2.2 ohms would give the best vape. As far as safety you needn't worry. 1.8- 2.0 will give a warm vape. 2.0- 2.4 will give a cooler vape. Realize lower (1.8 ohms) will drain the battery slightly quicker. Here's a volts to ohms chart that will give you a "general" idea:

Thank you both for your great answers. It's wierd though, because since just recently, when their launched their new BCT tank, the Inferno on Volcanos website has been sold with the Tube Tank, and the only ohms the cartomizers come in are 1.5 dual coil and 3.0. Seems very strange now after reading your posts. Oh well. :D

I have 5 cartos on the way for use with my Lavatube, so I'll be a happy camper hopefully on monday. I have one 1.5 ohm carto left as mentioned, but for some reason it seems to work extremely poorly with my Lavatube. The dual coil barely fires. As I previously mentioned, I tried it a few puffs in my Inferno, and it worked like a champ, but on my Lavatube, I barely get any vapor. 3.0 ohm worked perfect. I have no idea what's going on there, haha.

Thanks again people!

It sounds like maybe the connector pin on your LT may be pushed down a bit and is not making a good connection. With my 3.7 volt Mech Mod and Kgo (3.7 volt) the best cartos I found were the 1.7 Ressuector XL single coil also known as SmokTech 1.7 ohms. When they came out Vendors couldn't keep them in stock.
