Hey all,

I am currently looking for my first e cig and really I am a total noob to this all but have been doing a lot of reading and looking around for what make to go for and I find myself always looking back at the Inferno starter kit from Volcano.
Inferno Starter Kit
I realise that the Inferno seems to be a rebranded ego and I could pick one up for cheaper but if I'm being honest I don't care about that, the Inferno is nice and shiny and colourful and I like that. :D
I'm willing to pay a bit extra for aesthetics if needed.

Anyway I have been reading a load of reviews and experiences some good, some bad but I'm always up for some fresh experiences too.

Also I'd like to know in others experience what additional accessories or different parts people like to use that is not in the starter kit that will keep me going between orders and what parts from other makers are interchangeable with the Inferno?

Are there any quality alternatives as well, maybe I'd be more suited to the Lava and bearing in mind I want something that looks nice as well over the normal black tubes.

I suppose lastly I should say a little of my analog habits as that may be important or not.
I'm a couple a pack a day person, not quite a chain smoker but sitting at the PC for long periods or just relaxing infront of the telly seems to be when I smoke the most and also when driving.
So really is this the type of machine I'm after, I want something that is going to probably see heavy usage and is reliable straight from the box.

Please any opinions or experiences would be very much appreciated.

:)

Hi jb,

I quit smoking 2 weeks ago with the Inferno, i love it. It is kind of big and slightly bulky but I personally dont mind it. I smoked a pack of cigarettes a day and based my decision to get the inferno because of this. I wanted something I didnt have to worry about charging everyday or a few times a day and I really like the tank. Its great for lazy people like myself. The one thing that did help me was buying menthol juice to start with. I really dont care about the size of the e cig and holding it between my fingers to mimic smoking, for me it is about taste. My kit came with two batteries and I actually just ordered another tank for the spare battery and some more juice. As far as intergration goes, I will leave that I will leave that for the veterans of the group.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply,

I think I'd like the size to be a bit bigger and bulky so that's a good sign, I don't really want anything that resembles a regular smoke if I can help it.
The fact ii has two batteries and one being a usb is appealing too as I have a usb socket in the car so I can see that getting used when ever I'm driving.
I'm thinking of getting the big tube tank as an addition to the starter kit as well as an LR atomiser just so I don't have to rush back with another order.
But tbh I'm not sure what is best.

Well, I personally have had the inferno kit for about 2 weeks, I got the one where both are passthroughs, and it comes with the single tank. It's a fantastic starter kit in my honest opinion, however I made the mistake of ordering blucigs to start, and if I could go back to when I ordered the inferno I probably would throw out the extra few bucks to get the lavatube, as I think it would suit me better, but regardless the inferno was a great investment!

All things being equal with regard to options like USB Passthru, 5 click shutoff, battery size, and other features:

Volcano Inferno Pluses (aesthetics aside): You know it's not a counterfeit if you buy it directly from Volcano, Good warranty.

Volcano Inferno Minuses (aesthetics aside): Higher cost than a genuine Joyetech (but beware of counterfeits), No Ego threads.

Ego Knock-off and Counterfeits Pluses: Lowest cost

Ego Knock-off and Counterfeits Minuses: Questionable quality (maybe good, maybe not...)

Conclusion: The most important thing is that YOU like it enough to use it, and aesthetics are part of that. You won't go wrong with an Inferno battery.

More importantly perhaps is a quick recommendation as far as other beginning accessories go: I'd say skip right over the "big" cartomizers and the carto-tanks (like Lava Tank) and clearomizer type products. I've tried all of these things but there are plenty of other opinions out there and your milage may vary. I think it's hard to go wrong with a "Vivi Nova v2.5" wick-tank (get a few extra 1.8 and 2.4 Ohm replacement heads), and some small clear 2 Ohm cartomizers to start. Nothings perfect, but these are both easy to fill and manage and a filled tank usually keeps the heating coil pretty well wetted (very important) and the little clear cartos make for quick and easy flavor changes and also make it easy to see when you need a (frequent compared to a tank) fill-up. This will help you in the beginning where burning things up by running the coil dry can be a source of frustration, and tastes bad too... You can easily load either of these things up with whatever juice you want.

Examples:

http://www.gotvapes.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=151_163

http://www.gotvapes.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=148_193

http://www.gotvapes.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=104_80

Some, but certainly not all, vapers end up moving on from these things and into dripping, and/or Geneisis style tanks and making their own wicks and coils. You can jump right in there if you are adventurous, but the "tweakiness" of these methods might not appeal to the beginner. If you are feeling a bit more adventurous then it's easy enough to pick up a couple 2 Ohm 510 style atomizers as well and try some dripping...

Happy Vaping!

Dripping is a pain in the .....

I own the Inferno. I am happy with it. Does everything it is advertised too, etc. I am using a Vivi Nova 2.5 with it and my other eGo batteries. I don't like it. The draw is very tight on any device. Its not the device, it draws the same way unattached.

The Volcano tube tanks work much better for me, even with eGo type 3.7 batteries - I have two of Volcano's tube tanks. I'll probably get more. Yeah, they are a bit more expensive but Volcano seems to have better quality control. Plus, for me, they are local - no shipping.

I'm not a Volcano fanboy or anything, and I'm sure there are plenty of trustworthy vendors out there to choose from, and I could probably send my crap Vivi Nova back to the vendor I purchased it from and he'd swap in another one. That means I gotta go to the post office, pay for postage, and wait. Not worth the trouble. I've never had to worry about any of that with stuff I bought from Volcano - and if I did, I could exchange it in person.

Volcano's juice is another story - not buying any more of it - I'll order all my juice online from the mainland in the future.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.

I did in the end go for the Inferno starter kit and have had it for a couple of weeks, I'm still trying to get my head around what replacement cartos and such are compatible. Is is just ones with a 510 thread?
Hoping I wont need to by replacements for a little while anyway if I can clean them.

My experience has been pretty good although the 650 battery or carto on the battery shorts out from time to time but it seems to be better at the moment.
I haven't tried the atty yet, do all I have to do is prime it and then put a few drops on the wick?
I find the refillable tube tank that came in the kit the best for me so far, it's useful because it will last me the whole day but I use a carto on the other battery so am always changing throughout the day, I might get another tank for that too.

Personally I like the liquid but then again I have only ever had the Tobacco and RY4 from volcano, I'd be happy to get that again. I did just get a package of a few different flavours from easy liquid bought mainly because it was cheap so when I run out of the volcano stuff I'll try them.

I do believe the Inferno is a 510 thread, perhaps some one else can confirm this? I have not used any other parts on my inferno other than what is sold on volcano's website, witht the exception of the tube tank I don't think there prices are too bad.

To prime my atty i usually just add about 5 drops and let it sit for a few minutes and blow the excess out into a scott towel. Add 2-3 drops more and vape away. Works for me.

I personally like their juice too, each to their own.

Good Luck..

Thanks for the reply, yeah I am under the impression that it's a 510 thread but would like confirmation or if there are any problems with using non-volcano parts.
I'm going to try out my atty today as I have a couple of flavours I want to try.

I was going to try and clean the cartos but their site doesn't recommend it so now I'm wondering what can I get that is reusable/washable that will last a day or more using the tube tank or am I just destined to ditch cartos once a week.

The Inferno uses 510 threads on the atomizer connector but that outside part where eGo has threads has an o-ring instead. I have problems putting stardust/vision clearomizers on it. You can't put something like a eGo cone on your Inferno. Same goes with those pieces that support a tank.

The only reason I bought an Inferno is I live here in Hawaii and I was in a hurry. Go with a similar size eGo battery if you are doing mail order IMHO.

Vision Nova are reusable and washable. Get the kinds with the long wicks.
