The magma is a good starter kit in general. It comes with everything a first time user would need. It is, if memory serves, an SLB 510 which means that parts are only moderately compatible with other more common varieties of the 510 type.
Joye is one of most prolific manufacturers of 510 style e-cigs. These can be had for less money than the magma, but lack certain "nice-to-have" features.
A Joye PCC is a simple stamped steel charging case which is no where near as nice as the magma PCC in my opinion. Joye 510 batteries and Magma batteries are roughly the same in function and appearance, but my Joye batteries don't seem to charge in the Magma PCC. Magma and Joye batteries both charge in the Joye PCC.
Magma PCC's (this may have changed, as mine is one of the first produced) don't accept manual batteries without modification of the PCC. Once you try the manual batteries, you will probably find the experience more enjoyable, less of a hassle, and more consistent as compared to the auto batteries.
If you're just starting out, the Magma is a good choice, backed by an exceptional customer service policy. Bear in mind that, in the future, you may want to purchase other parts and accessories. Some of these will not work with the Magma. Carts, for example, from Joye or Joye compatible models will not work on a magma as they are a slightly smaller diameter. Joye compatible models are easier to find at numerous vendors in the event that your preffered company is out of stock.
Janty, Litecig, Vaporkings, Totally Wicked, Gator Vapor, and dozens of other companies are in the Vendor's forums section. They are all good companies in general that have certain items or service aspects that people appreciate. You might try looking at their websites and shopping around for whatever makes you happy.
