IMHO the volcano V-kit is a pretty good starter(similar to Blu), although it will be causing you to want more. The Magma is a 510, very similar to Joye's 510 with a pretty good life on the atties. The V-kit batteries will need recharging more often than the Magma. I started with V-kit before Magma was avail. I would get Magma if I could do it again.

The magma is a good starter kit in general. It comes with everything a first time user would need. It is, if memory serves, an SLB 510 which means that parts are only moderately compatible with other more common varieties of the 510 type.

Joye is one of most prolific manufacturers of 510 style e-cigs. These can be had for less money than the magma, but lack certain "nice-to-have" features.

A Joye PCC is a simple stamped steel charging case which is no where near as nice as the magma PCC in my opinion. Joye 510 batteries and Magma batteries are roughly the same in function and appearance, but my Joye batteries don't seem to charge in the Magma PCC. Magma and Joye batteries both charge in the Joye PCC.

Magma PCC's (this may have changed, as mine is one of the first produced) don't accept manual batteries without modification of the PCC. Once you try the manual batteries, you will probably find the experience more enjoyable, less of a hassle, and more consistent as compared to the auto batteries.

If you're just starting out, the Magma is a good choice, backed by an exceptional customer service policy. Bear in mind that, in the future, you may want to purchase other parts and accessories. Some of these will not work with the Magma. Carts, for example, from Joye or Joye compatible models will not work on a magma as they are a slightly smaller diameter. Joye compatible models are easier to find at numerous vendors in the event that your preffered company is out of stock.

Janty, Litecig, Vaporkings, Totally Wicked, Gator Vapor, and dozens of other companies are in the Vendor's forums section. They are all good companies in general that have certain items or service aspects that people appreciate. You might try looking at their websites and shopping around for whatever makes you happy.

Hi all,

Considering giving E-Cigs a try. Have decided based on reviews and such was thinking about the Volcano brand. I have a question though. Can someone explain the difference between the V-Kit and the MAGMA?

Just for informational purposes I am a >1 PAD smoker.

From what I have read the difference between the Volcano and Volcano Magma is that size: the V-Magma is bigger. According to their website it is almost twice as big as the original giving it longer battery life and better vapers.

I have been considering the V-Magma also, but also been checking out: Joye 510 eGo, which seems to be the favorite of the ECF members, KR808D-1, DSE801/901, and Prodigy V.3.

I just don't know which one I want yet ... Probably start off V-Magma then go to one of the others.

i started with a magma kit. Just switched out to a joye eGo right at two months later. Mainly because of the battery life on them. I do vape pretty heavy but it was a never ending cycle threw the day of charging the batteries. Once one was threw charging the other one was dead. I do really like the magma atomizers. Seem to be more flavorful then some of the others i have tried.

Can you make a suggestion on brand?
Joye makes the originals and they're very good. You can find them at numerous online vendors (e.g. Joye 510 Kit)

Some cheaper alternatives (not genuine Joye):
510 Manual Battery Kit with RED LED
Tasty Vapor

All true regarding the charging case. If you really like the Magma case and don't mind spending the extra $$$ then why not...
