Been having a little trouble with burning these out within a day or two, using Smoktech brand on a ProVari. I was setting the voltage for 2 ohm at about 4.6-5v, is this too high? The cartos are 2 hole and I am using 50/50 mix that is not very dark. I do tend to end up chain vaping rather than a few puffs here and there, enjoy vaping too much. I don't draw very hard, is it necessary to draw a little harder than normally for other devices simply to help wick juice up to the top coil? Follow Baditude's priming method and then some, I prefer to flood and then blow out the battery end after thinking I had a carto set up and taking a hit Nd getting the horrid burnt filler flavor.

Basically what I am asking is the add 2 to the ohm and adjust from there rule the same for dual-coil cartos or is it a little different. Seem to get pitiful performance following that with these.

Hello :) I am fairly new to vv but have a years worth of experience with cartos. You need the 2.5 to 3 ohm cartos for higher voltage. Although I will say, the last batch of smoktech cartos I bought for my tanks crapped out on me pretty fast. Which was a bummer, because they always worked so well in the past. Try the higher resistance. Hope all works out for you :)

I've learned, from building dual coils on an RBA, that if the resistance of both coils isn't exactly the same, one coil will fire hotter, sooner. This is bad in the case of cartos, as it can burn the "sock" and filler faster, whether it be the top coil or bottom coil that's lower resistance. I used to get random DCs that burned really fast, too. I generally used a 2ohm carto @ 4.5v, so it seems like you're in the ballpark, there.

My parents use 2-hole DCs in their tanks with 60/40, so I wouldn't assume that you're experiencing any wicking problems @ 50/50.

Do you ever "top-off" your cartos, even tho they're in a tank that's supposed to keep them saturated? Seems redundant, but when I used DCTs I had to put about 10 drops in the top every couple hours, as the top got dry. This probably isn't your issue, but worth mentioning.

Any reason why you are using dual coils?

I started out with dual coils and soon switched to single coils. I prefer using the 3.0 ohm single coil Smoktechs when I use them on the Provari. These will allow you to use any voltage between 3.4 - 5.0 volts without any issue.

My preferred cartomizers are the standard resistance Ikenvape 510 Fusion (3.0 ohm) and Platinums (2.5 ohm).

I've been told that the following safe vaping power chart applies only to single coil atomizers.

Are you guys with 2ohm dual coils SURE they are dual coil cartos?

I've never once seen a dual coil carto anything other than 1.5ohm. If it's in fact a single coil 2ohm as I suspect, getting voltage up around 5v is getting close to the max most juices can stand before burning.

A dual coil 2ohm carto would be a pair of 4ohm coils. A 4ohm coil isn't going to get anywhere near hot enough to char juice that bad at 5v. That's about 6 watts per coil, which is less power than some cigalikes.

I'd put my money on it really being a single coil 2ohm, which is a bit low for running in the 5v range depending on the juice.

Well after a bit of searching around I did find a few DC 2ohm cartos, but I'd still wonder if the OPs are dualcoil simply because of them burning at that voltage. I can run 1.5ohm dualcoils higher than 5v, so a 2ohm dualcoil should have no issues at those voltages, that should actually be the sweet spot.

The carto could be running dry as well. After vaping for awhile drip some juice in the top, and count how many drops before the carto is totally topped off. If the tank is feeding properly you really shouldn't need anymore than 6 or so drops to completely saturate the filler material.

Sorry about the delayed response folks, forgot I made this thread

UncleChuck: Pretty sure they are dual-coil Smoktech, they perform like garbage on the eVic at the same voltage setting as the ProVari, basically hits the 2.5amp limit of the eVic or a little over.

Baditude: I've been waiting to try and get some of the Ikenvapes when they are in stock to give those a go after reading a lot of good reviews from you and others. I picked up a carto punch the other day when I bought cartos so I'll get some Boge single coils and give those a shot and see how I like 'em.

2 ohm at the 4.6 to 5 volt range should be fine. I only use 2 and 2.5 dual coil cartos but NO tank for reasons stated in the original post. Seems to me you have a wicking problem. I Definately defer to BADITUDE on that issue. Tanks can be great when wicking properly. Id rather not have the hassle, and just top off a plain ole boring carto every 45 min to hour

What a coincidence, happened to go check out Ikenvape to see if they had any of the 510 cartos in stock and they did in fact have one. Ordered 5 of the 510 Mega Fusion Punch 3ohm cartos so will see how they work out :) Didn't find any details but I'm guessing the mega will be 45mm cartos?

I think I had been trying to run these too high of a voltage. Been going strong with a 1.5ohm and 2ohm now for about a week using 50/50 and the tops don't appear to be drying out.

Well the Ikenvapes should be here today, whenever the bloody mailman decides to deliver the mail. Pretty excited to get to see what they hype is all about, will let y'all know my thoughts after I get one loaded up into a tank and vape it for a little while.

I have a love/hate relationship with vapemail, the anticipation the day of delivery gets to be a little too much :p
