voltmeter question. Did I ruin my battery?

Hello.
I bought a volt meter for my nemesis clone on ebay.
When I screw it on and try to test the voltage. I don't get a reading and it heats up my battery.
My battery turns hot.
What is going on? Did I ruin my battery by using this volt meter?
Did I do something wrong? I thought it was simple as screwing it on and firing the trigger. Are there more to it than that?
I am using AW18350 battery.

Thanks for your help.

Well I dont the answer for sure without having it in my hand, but this is an inline volt meter from the looks of it, so make sure you do have an atty screwed in the top of the meter as you need to fire the mod with a completed circuit (resistance attached)

Check with a multimeter before you fire it again that all connectors/connections are making good contact.

hot battery would be a sign of either a short somewhere. best way to rule out everything is to test the atomizer to make sure it is registering a resistance. the other sign would be pulling more amps then that battery can handle. IE running a .7 or below build on the 18350's.

personally once a battery gets unusually hot I replace it. For some that may sound a bit extreme but I like my face and batteries aren't items you play what if with.

The only reason for a battery to get hot in a mod is if it is being discharged too quickly. A short is the worst 'discharged too quickly' scenario. You are basically putting a wire from the positive end of the battery to the negative end.
I agree with this. There is a short (a big one).

I would get a hold of multimeter and use it.

Cheers

Holy ...I bought the same one and did the same thing..even after I put an atty on it...batteries warm to hot ...I thought I got bad one or I did something wrong...I threw in trash and my batteries were trashed too..they heated up even after I let it cool down and then fire them up with atty

Edit: i put another battery in mod and it worked fine..I didn't want to deal with the vendor..cause I already went through paypal claim etc..

With the inline volt meter you dont need an atomizer on top. If you take the meter off your mod and push the fire button, does it heat up? If so then your mod has the short. If not then the meter has a short. I would stop using it. And if you are able to, take it apart and post a picture. Those things are really complicated at all. A short should be fairly obvious.
