Hi.
I have a kanger emow mega kit with a 1600mah vv battery.
I am looking at buying a subtank nano which states it runs within a certain range of watts and i need to ensure it will work right.
Does anyone know if volts translate into watts and if I can use the subtank nano on this battery with either the .5 or 1.2 ohm coils and what voltage ranges i ought to stay within.
Thanks
C

From what I know the resistance limit on a kanger emow I 1.5 ohms. So if that is correct you won't be able to use that tank on your battery.

Yes, volts does translate in to wattage. The easiest way to calculate it is to go to vapecalc.com.

If you want any advice on what device to get for a tank like that, I would recommend an Eleaf iStick. They're fairly cheap an small in size. Great for when you're upgrading from an ego style battery.

If you insist on using the nano, 1.2 only. DO NOT use the .5 heads. That battery will run best with a topper in the 2 to 2.4 range. For the nano I'd recommend a device capable of sub ohm and 30 watts or better. The Eleaf iStick 30 Watt Full Kit is a good beginners choice.

On a side note, I can't quite believe I just honestly recommended a 30 watt, sub ohm capable APV to a beginner, mostly because I can't believe there are APVs that easy to use. But there they are and I feel old and a little bit jealous. :)

Its not that I insist on it as such. I have only been vaping for just over a week on the emow mega kit. To be honest it suits me but I am going to buy a second tank to have 2 flavours on cycle. Either another emow mega tank or the nano as it would fit flush.
My reason for wanting to try the nano is down to the ease of being able to rewick the coils and being able to try out these cotton wicks that seem be rated.
If I try a nano with the 1.2 coil it will be fine?
Just for reference I fire my 1.8ohm stock coils on 3.6 to 3.8v any more than that and I loose taste and it gets a bit warm. Dont know if that helps.

From what I can tell, the minimum resistance for the EMOW mod can fire down to resistances of 1.0 ohm. So the 0.5 ohm coils simply won't work. The 1.2 ohm coils should be fine.

The tank itself controls what kind of voltage/wattage you'll find comfortable to vape at. Just because the EMOW tank didn't go so well above 3.8, that doesn't mean the Sub-tank will be the same. It can probably handle quite a bit of voltage/wattage, since it's designed for 30+ watts.

Think I would choose a different tank better suited to your emow, that or also get a battery that is better suited for the tank you want, the istick is a good choice among many others. The emow may in fact fire the nano with the 1.2 head, I don't really know, but it will probably be pushing it to its limits. When dealing with batteries and electronics in general I don't think operating on the edge of the limits of the device is a good idea.

No offense or anything, but you've only been vaping for a week, and you want to re-wick your coils? I don't think that the EMOW was a good setup to invest in if you want to go the DIY route. The stock coils for the main line of Kanger clearomizers (i.e. Aerotank, Protank 3, Genitank, MOW, etc.) are enclosed and aren't really a breeze to re-wick. You are right that the Subtank series is meant for that more, but then the battery that you currently have isn't optimized for that. Outside of Kanger, Lemos and Kayfun clearomizers are frequently re-wicked by their users. However I personally don't know too much about them myself.

Trust me, I'm not trying to be discouraging. But you may find a lot more flexibility by getting an entirely new setup with a battery with a wider functional range. Also check out this link for an intro to RBAs (rebuildable atomizers).
