Alright, just got this battery a few hours ago and I'm pretty sure I've borked it.
It is a 650 mAh variable voltage battery with the battery life window.
I ordered the VV passthrough, but was sent the battery instead. Things happen.
So this is my first ego battery, and I have no charger. Figuring I can handle a little jury rigging, I took the connector out of another 510 USB charger and the smart charging cable from a Blu cig kit.
Output of the cable is 4.2v 300mA. Hooked everything up, the battery flashed a couple times, then nothing. The battery is now displaying the second led from the end, the light on the cable connector does not light and the switch of the battery is getting steadily warmer.
Can this thing be salvaged.
Quick responses would be highly appreciated as I leave country in 24 hours.

500ma is what you want on an ego charger i think. my stick chargers are 150ma and my ego charger is 500. i read somewhere not to charge the small stick batteries at over 150 but the longer ones can go on the bigger charger. and you CAN charge an ego with a stick batt charger it just takes a very long time. i once charged a 14500 in a mod with a stick charger and an adapter. took forever though lol
antfuzz that sounds like the usb spec for the wall wart part of the charger. output voltage to the battery should not be more than 4.2v there is no voltage label on my chargers but they are usb so that means 5v in. i didnt check these but my other chargers all put out 4.2 (the max for li-ion batteries)
hope this helps some :vapor:

So with an adapter, can I charge a 78mm 901 with the ego charger than? Will it be a faster charge?

Some one will read that and think it is safe. You have to be careful on the interwebs :)
If someone reads my question as absolute truth then the deserve what they get. note the ?'s in my post.

adrena is that the longer battery? and i dont know what the output of the 901 charger is (or if the polarity is right you might want to double check with your meter) but its li-ion so it should be the same. the chargers designed for the longer batteries prolly put out the same as the ego chargers so that should be ok. just dont put the smallest batts (what are they like 150 mah or some sillyness) on the larger charger that could be bad. 350mah batteries and bigger should be fine on ego charger ....
if the 901 charger puts out the same it will take the same time to charge. i would guess it might be just a little faster on the ego charger ....

Yeah I got a new 901 charger coming just to be safe.

It'll be OK as long as you hold it in your hand the whole time, Adrena. ;)
Are you trying to be funny? I just took this all kinds of wrong *removes mind from gutter*
