I'm planning on ordering a VV Little Sister with Vari-Cool next month and would like to hear from owners or previous owners of this little VV mod before ordering. What did you like or not like about it? I know the batteries were an issue for a lot of people but the Vari-Cool is suppose to help with that. Have you tried the Vari-Cool and does it do what it says it does?

And please, no recommendations about other VV mods. I'm only interested in the VV Lil Sister right now.

I've never owned it but I've used one, not the veri-cool but the previous version. The Vari-Cool probably does help battery life somewhat but there's only so much you can get from a pair of 10440s, battery life will be limited. It's a nice, cute little mod, I wouldn't have it as my only mod but as a backup, running errands, evening out or when I want something stealth type thing it's awesome. I would also recommend not using LR or DC with it because of the batteries.

^this, me too. I did love my Little Sister's size and it was very nice to take out with me, though I did worry about dropping it on a hard surface and damaging it, which surprisingly I never did do (I drop stuff...a lot). I also worried about the dial moving so easily, I never felt like dialing it down to 0 was really "shutting it off" because of that. That said, it never did fire in my pocket. I took itty bitty dot nail stickers and marked 3.7, 5 and 6v on mine, and that was very nice so that I didn't have to get out the voltage meter every time I wanted to adjust it. It hit great and minus the battery life I was pretty pleased with it.

I've two of the original Li'l Sister's, for "Stealth" vaping it conceals very well. I learned to carry a "spare pair" of batts. They don't last me long, that, and the fact She warms up a tad. When all's said and done, I love my Little Sister's. . .for special applications. JMHO

Cheers,
otrpu

What's the expected battery life? What a neat little mod, that's some serious high voltage vaping!

Don't know about the li'l sis. but I use a VV mod that just came out with a version that uses a switching regulator (I assume that's what "Vari-Cool" means). I've seen about a 50% improvement in battery life with the new version. On the old version my batts held for 6 hours and on the new one I'm getting 9 hours.

I don't have a little sister (yet), it's on the ever growing list of mods to acquire. But I do have a single 10440 battery mod that's built using the same case. So I can't comment on performance, but the form factor is tiny. Makes it a great, pocketable mod for those situations when I don't want to haul around something large.

I love Ken's mods. I have an early LS (not vari-cool), several of his 3.7v Big Brothers and an early VV Big Brother (also not a vari-cool).

I like the size of the LS but the battery life isn't that great. If I were choosing today I'd go for the new vari-cool Big Brother. It's still a smallish unit and the 14500's will last quite a bit longer.

I used to have a VV Little Sister... I didn't have the Vari-cool, but the previous version.

The good:

- Ken is a really outstanding guy to do business with - I had to send my LS in to be repaired (the atomizer connector came loose)... He had it back to me with no questions asked in LESS than a week!!!

- Its small and cute, and on 2 fully-charged 10440's, I could adjust the voltage from 3.2v to 7v.

- The batts would last about a day (I'm a light to moderate vaper, at least compared to other people)

The Bad:

- I used an atomizer on it (I dripped), and the juice would leak out the bottom of the atty (like on any atty/device), but it would LEAK down the seam where the 2 halves snapped together and INTO THE MOD. This is ultimately what killed my LS. I was ALWAYS having to sop up the mess. I don't know if this has been solved with the new Vari-cool version, but if not... this was a HUGE (and only) problem.

That leaking problem is a good point. Thanks, I hadn't thought about that. I'm not a dripper but even cartos leak if you fill them too much.

I have a Big Brother, and I am assuming it uses the same electronics... I can tell you that it will not handle a dual coil or 1.7oh and below above 4v.. It works fine on anything 2 Ohms or better. I returned my first one after it died using dual coils, and the one I got back has the same issues with dual coils. it cuts in and out.. So if you plan on using LR or Dual coils... I would avoid..

Ken uses sealed connectors in his mods which helps quite a bit in keeping small leaks from getting into the unit itself, but the way his stuff is designed any excessive leakage is probably going to find it's way into the mod if you're not careful (something you could probably say about most mods on the market).

My advice: Don't use leaky cartos/attys, and don't overfill. :)

If there was some way Ken could incorporate a recessed atty connector on the LS, that's all it would have needed in my humble opinion (not sure if there's enough space inside the mod for that, tho). I've got a few other mods with recessed atty connectors, and there's no leaking to speak of at all.

Edit: I've often wondered if one of those Drip Shields would have helped as well... http://www.empiremods.com/category_s/21.htm

Unfortunately, those came out after I fried my LS. :p

If I'm correct these drip shields are only made for the 901 and the Lil Sis is a 510. You could use an adapter but that would add to the overall length of the Lil sis and could easily get broken off in a pocket. Thanks for the suggestion though.
