I just finished my vv passthru for my grand and it works flawlessly. It may not be 100% aesthetically pleasing, but that's not what I was going for. I used a 15v 5 amp input to a lm2596 and put a shut off foot switch on there as well. Potentiometer is accessed with screwdriver and it can go great at ANY voltage. 12v? No problem  it is activated by the reos button, because I used a dummy 18650 (piece of wood) with power going to battery contacts with anode on pos end and flat on neg. hope you like it!

@ Tim: do they make resistance that high? If so I'm game lol. I just use my 3 ohm 357 with it, it works awesome with my juices.
@ Rob: I could have waited, but what fun would that be  I will still be purchasing a VV grand obviously, but at a whopping 6 dollars to put this thing together I just couldn't resist. :)
@ Tenndave: It wouldn't be too hard to do, the lm2596 is super easy to rig up, but it is the size of a 9v battery so it wouldn't fit in the holder however that holder would definitely work as I have done. One thing is I need to get a dx power plug and jack to go in to the dummy battery so I can have my door slid on while I use it. Right now I just have it sittin there at the mercy or the magnets :D

I'm thinking just a simple 4.2V DC power supply (wall wort or USB) and then to the internals of either my Mini or my Grand- They make those AAA to AA cases...if only they had something similar for 18650, then we'd be all set- of course, your little deal is nice too cause you can regulate the power output!!

Thanks pmoraldo! The size of the cord is a bit big, but perfect for lounging on the couch. If I had another reo I would just leave it plugged up. But it's super easy to remove anyway.
@ Tenndave, that might work but you would have to find a wall wart with 2 amp output. You could order one on the net but I have not found one by rummaging :) this project was super easy and cheap, but I just so happened to have an old laptop cord laying around. A significant power supply would run you an extra ten bucks.

rigged up my desk chair to hold the stompbox on the armrest. Now it is even nicer. If only I had some different ohm atomizers to really put this thing to use, all I have is 3 ohm right now due to insufficient funds, and not wanting to spend money on atties when I plan on making my bottom fed rebuild-able this weekend :D. Ok so this update is a cleverly disguised bump. I am proud of my ingenuity lol. cant wait for the VV GRAND!!

Not for nothing, but my husband took apart a laptop battery and it was filled with 18650's. I have no idea if they would be safe for Reo's, but just thought I'd throw that out there.
They would not be safe chemistry batteries- usually a battery pack has a protection board built into it- those individual batteries would not, so best not to use with your Reo but then again, there are those selling a protection board that you may be able to slide between the negative end of those batteries and the spring- still I would not trust them and I doubt you will get the kind of output that you would desire- most likely not a Lithium ion battery...

I just came across this:
Universal Laptop Power Supply w/USB 4.2~24 VDC 70 Watts 120-500

I plan on modding a small connector into the side of the Reo, so it can be easily connected when Im sitting here on the couch...

This power supply goes from 4.2v and up, and up to 4a.

EDIT: just realized you can only change the voltage by changing tips....hmmm
