VV while the battery discharges

I set my VV zmax to 6v and with an multimeter it reads 6v. The battery voltage is about 3.7-6 though if I test the battery. But when I set my zmax to 5v it only says 4v on the meter? Put a new battery (4.2v) into the zmax and still at 5v setting the meter reads 4v but the vapor shoots up so I know its getting more amps. Anyone know whats going on here?

The zmax uses PWM and many multimeters cannot correctly read the signal coming from a PWM device.

Ok had to google the pulse width modulation but makes sense now, thanks

Any chance you know if the voltage stays consistent as the battery discharges? I could swear a fresh battery makes better vapor but not 100%.

Edit: found answer...it uses more amps to maintain wattage.
