Decided to get a Pass Thru, since my first two batteries decided to kick the bucket at the same time. Figured that I should get a spare one and figured that I might as well go with a PT eGo.

I'm wondering if there are any restrictions on using them?
Can I use LR cartos (1.5) on it? Or is it necessary to use 3 ohm ones?
Can I use the battery charger that comes with the kit? Or are there power sources that offer too much (or too little)?
Are Desktop USB's better than Lap top USB's? (I'm concerned about the power supply and battery of the laptop)
Any other restrictions I should be aware of?

Well, the Ego PT battery isn't a true pass through, It's just an Ego you can charge while using. When you press the button it cuts the charging cycle and you hit from the battery. If you tried hard enough you could kill the battery with it plugged in and charging. I charge mine on both the kit charger and my desktop USB ports and powered USB hub. Using LR cartos won't cause issues, I use 1.5 LR atties on mine with no problems.

If you make the jump to a true 5v USB powered pass through don't risk frying your ports or motherboard, just use it off of a "wall wart" adapter.

The Ego is made for 2.5 ohm and up. Vapors do go down to 2.0 but that is outside the specs for the battery. I really advise you not to go lower than 2.0 Ohms. Even at 2.0 you will be shortening the life of the battery and the lower you go the faster it will degrade. Three is also a risk of over heating and and blowing the battery.

A computer usb port also isn't designed to handle the power requirements of a PT. I don't like risking an expensive computer to do something it wasn't designed for. You can get a plugin usb adapter at Wallmart or any electronics store and use that. Make sure it will handle at least 2.0 amps. Or use the one that came with the battery. It should say 2 amps on it.

+1 You beat me to it!

Let me add that you certainly DO NOT want to use LR attys on this battery while it's plugged into any computer USB port. Your best results are going to be from using a 2Amp/5V USB adapter full time. And I would go with Traver's advice...don't go below 2.0 ohms. The eGo batteries really weren't designed to be used with LR attys.

The cartos I have are 510 LR carts for altsmoke's Yeti. I'm not sure the exact ohm measurement on them, I just assume they're 1.5 since I believe that's the standard "LR" ohmage.
Which have a 3.7 V recommended voltage and a +450 mah battery supply, which meets the eGo specs.

Also: anyone know if standard usb/ac adapters for iPods work?

You can use LR's on your Ego I do it all the time, and we all have plenty of evidence of this, if you don't believe me go ask Scottbee and he will fill you in better then me, just don't chain vape with it with an LR and heat up the batt way to much but as long as you give it a break in between vapes for a couple of seconds after a vape you will be fine, been using a couple of them this way for a while now with 1.5 ohm Attys and no problem. I do however recommend and agree with the others on not using your computer port as a power source, buy an AC/USB so you just plug this into a wall outlet or say and 8way and it has a USB outlet on it, this is better then risking your computer board frying

I had to chain vape on the 3.0's to get sufficient vapor and taste. The LR's I don't usually chain it.
The ipod square part that plugs into the wall with the female USB works fine for me but I bought a nicer one I use just for my ecigs

I'm not opposed to buying one. I just have one for charging my Zune and was wondering if that would work.

So it sounds like I should get some new cartos. I've been looking at getting some CE 2's.
What is the MINIMUM ohm I should use on an eGo, especially a pass through?
gotvapes has a diverse range of ohmage, and I was wondering what the optimal ohm would be.
