Hi everyone, about two years ago I tried to quit smoking so I bought myself a nice penstyle ecig(I dont remember the model but it was nothing cheap). After I got it I found that from toke to toke the taste and the amount of vape was never the same. But my biggest issue was with the cartomizer, I hated not knowing the amount of liquid in the little foam and would find myself refilling it every 15 minutes until the foam get super dry. Plus I never really got the hang of dripping. It didnt last long and I went back to normal cigarettes. But now for myself and my wallet I want to give vaping another try. I want to know if my issues were resolve in the last two years? Got any suggestions for a model of ecig knowing what were my biggest issues? And is the e-liquid I bought two years ago still good lol?

Thanks everyone Im happy to be back in this community :)

 Welcome back! You've made a wise decision to ask before purchasing.

Most people will recommend an eGo battery as the backbone to your setup. I recommend either a Twist or Spinner, both are variable voltage and vary only slightly in features. You will need at least two batteries minimum, one to use while the other charges. Battery duration is figured in mAh: a 1000 mAh battery should last at least 10 hours, a 600 mAh battery 6 hours. The more mAh the longer the battery is.

There are other juice delivery devices available besides a cartomizer. I recommend either a clearomizer or a Vivi Nova tank (a larger version clearomizer). Like cartomizers, consider these devices to be disposable. They should last 2 - 3 weeks of use. Some of them are considered "rebuildable", meaning that the coil head and string wicks are replaceable and purchased separately so you can continue to use the original device.

For juices, figure on consuming 3 - 6 ml daily. 24mg strength is generally recommended for a 1 ppd smoker to start off with. I recommend getting several flavors in smaller bottles instead of possibly wasting money on a large bottle of juice that you may not care for. If you find a winner, purchase more in a larger bottle next time.

And no, e-liquid is generally only recommended to be kept for up to a year.

Thank you :) I can see that this forum is still one of the nicest community i've ever seen on the internet. I think the clearomizer will fix everything I had against ecigs. Are there other models worth looking at other than the ego? What are the differences?

The ego is actually a class of battery. Joytech makes the Twists and Vision makes the Spinner. There are also the knockoff brands.

Once you decide to move up from this class, you are talking about mods or APV's (advance personal vaporizers) which are either tubes or boxes that use replaceable rechargeable batteries.

Generally speaking, I'm not a fan of most vendor-created starter kits. Quite often certain pieces are thrown in just because they are of a cheaper build or a knockoff product. If you know what you are looking for and a vendor is offering a kit that has everything that you desire, that's ok.

I tend to buy exactly what I need or want, from different vendors if I need to.

OK I really like the vivi nova or kanger clearomizer but im not sure I get the differences between the different batteries?
There is really not much difference between the Twist and the Spinner, if that is what you are referring to. The Spinner is a little bit larger in diameter, they have different mAh ratings (how long the battery will last between charges), and the dial which controls the voltage is different. The Spinner actually has "clicks" and is easier to read.

I agree with the ego as that is my primary battery. If you are worried about the cartos getting dry and don't like refilling them I would strongly recommend a tank, but just make sure you read up on the tank because in my experience I went through a lot of really leaky ones before I finally found one (Vapedudes Texas Tuff Tank) that is pretty much indestructible.

So what do my first order should look like? 2 atomizers, 2 clearomizers, 2 chargers, some tips if they dont come with the clearomizers, some eliquid. Am I missing something? Is there any accessories that would make my life easier?
Your first order should look like the first link I gave you, like this: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...06-4-good-starters-setup-beginning-vapor.html

Two batteries, a charger, and a usb/wall converter.

Two types of juice delivery devices (2 atomizers, 2 clearomizers, if that is what you've decided upon). Clearomizers come with their own tips, but you'll need at least one drip tip for an atomizer.

You might consider some sort of organizer or carrying case for your gear when on the go. http://www.myvaporstore.com/eGo_Leather_Carry_Case_p/ego-case.htm

Why do tanks has coils that can be to changed to different ohms while clearomizers does not seem to have a coil at all?

Clearomizers DO have a heating coil. The coil is in the "head" that the string wicks lead to. The bottom "exploded view" clearomizer in the below pic shows the string wicks leading to the coil head. This is the part that is replaceble in the rebuildable clearomizers like the Kanger T3.

You can't change the ohms or resistance rating of individual delivery devices; they pretty much remain the same. But you can often find a couple of resistance options of clearomizers that will either be LR (low resistance) or SR (standard resistance) when you purchase. LR will provide a warmer vape, SR will provice a cooler vape. I'd recommend going with standard resistance (2.0 - 2.5 ohm) for a variable voltage battery like the Spinner or Twist as that will give you the best performance for the voltage range that the batteries can provide.

Just an update...

I just got a 1300mha ego twist with the mini nova tank and so far I am loving it. Ill just have to find the right juice. The guy at the local shop made a good point saying the mini nova was a good compromise between the plastic clearomizer and the kanger protank moneywise and to try out first.

Thanks for all the help especially to Baditude
