How would they lose money? Im sure in the near future the government is going to impose taxes on e-ciggs, and related product's

How would they lose money if millions of people quit smoking or switched to un-taxed e-cigs? They are trying to tax them because they are afraid of losing billions of dollars in tax revenue.

If they were really afraid of that, would they be slowly taxing tobacco off the market?

At some point that strategy will result in lost income anyway, especially as the black market really flourishes as an alternative source of purchase. Plus the e-cig market is still comparatively tiny.

I think maybe you credit politicians with too much intelligence and objectivity?

And afraid of losing the money that the tobacco lobbyists give them if they support e-cigs at all. Everything in the US government is based around lobbyists and money now.

EXACTLY! For the first time in 100 years the U.S government decided to change the dates we could file taxes in America. A lot of this had to do with the so-called Fiscal Cliff" and last minute changes that the IRS needed to update in their computer system.

What this means is that people who kept the same job throughout the year were unable to file "early" and had to wait until January 30th to file with everyone else who didnt have their .... together. It isnt hard to keep your end-of-year W2 and figure out your taxes from there.

Imposing that 30 day waiting period looked great on paper (another 30 days of them earning interest on our money) but has resulted in a major fiasco.

Instead of the IRS getting returns gradually, as employers got w2s out throughout the month before the deadline date, they instead got hit with millions of returns all at once (and no one saw this coming?) and are struggling just to keep up. They cant even keep the website updated because they are getting so many hits inquiring about refund statuses.

This is just another example of incompetence by our elected leaders on both sides with money being the prime factor.

If they cant handle something as simple as a tax return do we really expect them to be able to regulate an entire fledgling industry without messing it up?
