Hello! I'm Jake, and I've been lurking about for a couple of months. Thought it was time to thank you all for the incredible amount of information I've gained here, and for really changing my life.
I started smoking in high school. (I'm 36 now) I wasn't peer pressured into it, but it was the height of the grunge era, and everybody was doing it! Grab your pack of Cloves, head to the coffee shop, etc. Cloves got too expensive when you start smoking more and more, so on to Camel Lites I went, and there I stayed for a long, long, time.
Like most people I tried to quit many times over the years. Cold turkey, gum, the patch, the pills, and nothing ever worked for long. Every time I tried to quit and failed, the harder it was to face trying to do it again. I hated my smokers cough, my stinking clothes and vehicles, and the stigma that came with smoking later. I'm an outdoors person, and felt ridiculous climbing a mountain trail, or kayaking to a secluded beach on the gulf and not feeling satisfied or content without lighting up a smoke. I just thought I was hard wired to be a smoker, and there was never going to be a solution.
Of all of the reasons to quit, from money, to health, and on and on, here is what finally did it. In 18 years I had never, ever, ever, burned a hole in the seat of any car I had ever been in or owned. This summer I bought a new Jeep Wrangler, in the perfect color, with the options I wanted, and I love it! It's one of my pride and joy material possessions! One month after I bought it...I burned a hole in the seat. Still not sure how it happened, but it did. I decided right then and there that I had to try anything I could to kick that habit!
I knew one vaper, but he had this giant lightsaber looking device (now I know it was the 134 lol) and I DID NOT want that. I wanted a cigarette! I did some online snooping and wound up here, and QUICKLY was overwhelmed! So I said to heck with it, and drove to one of the B&M's here in Austin. I walked out with two E-gos, a charger, a case, a couple of mini vivi nova's, and some juice. I HAVEN'T LOOKED BACK!
This Saturday will be my two month "vaporversary" and I can't really put into words how overjoyed I am to NOT be a smoker. Every time I go to one of the (many. I'm lucky!) vape shops here in Austin, I feel a sense of kinship and camaraderie with people who truly understand where we all came from, and where we are now.
I've moved on from my original gear, and my office at home is now referred to as the "mad scientists lab." I've got racks of juices, charging devices, cleaning stuff, and glassomizers for days. Most of this stuff I researched right here, and you all helped me make the choices that have brought me from sad and angry smoker to livin the good life in Vapeland. I couldn't be happier, my family couldn't be happier, and I wanted to say...
THANK YOU!
