Hi Everyone, new to the forum. A few years ago, I bought an e-cig and hated it. Now after reading up a lot (Here and elsewhere), I realize I had no clue what I was doing! I am going to give it a try again, I think. I have some health issues that smoking isn't helping...

Here is my dilemma...I am confused as to which e-cig I should buy. I keep reading about the Joye510 and the KR808D-1. Not sure which one would be better and would love any input from you folks in the know. Also, it seems like many of the US based sites don't have these in stock...Am I looking in the wrong place?

I am sure I will think of a million more questions, but in the meantime I will go back to reading, learning, and confusing myself even more :D

Hello! Better off ordering it online. LiteCigUSA has some great prices on starter kits for the KR808D type. In my opinion, its a great unit for beginners and experienced alike. Been using one since Sept '10 and couldn't be happier.

Best would be to get a couple of batteries as well, that way you can have one (or more) charging while you're using another. I actually have 3 that I rotate regularly, with 2 in chargers and one in my mouth. I use mainly manual type, but do have a couple of auto's that I started off using that I don't really use anymore.

You will also want to order some juice so you can refill your carto's. Get some blank carto's when you order your kit and that way you can fill them with juice. The juice you can purchase from Backwoods, FreedomSmokeUSA, etc. will be much, much better than the prefilled carto's you usually get with the kit.

I vape both.

If you think you might want prefilled cartomizers and the simplest 2-piece system to start, get KR8/Vapor4Life. It also has a slightly hotter hit IMO than a 510 with a standard resistance carto. The standard batteries are 280mah or 3-5 hours for a moderate vaper.

If you want a unit that comes with atomizer and carts (a 3-piece - handy to have if you run out of cartos or if you want to drip, a popular method of vaping) which has a much much smaller selection of prefilled cartomizers but plenty of blank ones (for use as a 2-piece) then look at 510. Note that 510's standard battery life is 180mah or about 2-3 hours for a moderate vaper. but there are 1-inch longer batteries called 510 mega xl that have the same battery life as the KR8 standard batteries (makes it 138mm long with atty+cart or 128mm long with Boge carto). I like to use my 510 with blank Boge soft-cap cartomizers for a vapory cooler hit than the KR8.

Get manual batteries unless you have some overriding reason you cannot use a button. Manuals are better sealed against death by juice leak because they are not dependent on a threaded end drag sensor. manuals won't turn on accidentally from wind or vibration. And I think they are less work.

Plenty of blank cartomizers are available for both. Both have a number of adapters available for different attys but 510 probably has more adapters and cartomizer types. KR8 is a dedicated 2-piece but you can use a DSE901 atty+carts on it with no adapter needed.

See LiteCigUSA.net or Cignot.com for real Joye 510's. Volcano ecigs has a set called Magma with a nice PCC as does NoSmokeVA with their VaporMaxx kits. I know the VaporMaxx one works with manual standard 510 batteries. if you get a 510 make sure you have at least 2 batteries, 2 atomizer (in case one burns out or it you want to clean one while using the other).

see LiteCigUSA.net or VaporLeaf.com for plain KR808D-1 and Vapor4Life for nice colors and the most prefilled cartomizers. Note Vapor4Life sale ends today Mar 8 at midnight PST - on orders of $50 or more first enter SMILIN17 for 17% off, then enter FREESHIPPINGUS for free shipping in the US (or FREESHIPPINGWORLDWIDE for international shipping).

For either you need E-Liquid, if possible some nice US PG/VG liquid (I like 70pg/30vg) but even the Chinese 100% PG will do to start - order some juice where you get your kit. No matter what you get, you will be adding ejuice. Prefilled cartos are a bit of a convenience if it's a flavor you like but you need to keep them damp with juice anyway or you will cut their life short when you singe the stuffing. Keep cartos damp and you can get 4-7 days or more out of one. Carts with attys will need juice added more often to keep the top of the stuffing and therefore the atty damp.

I vape both, I like both. I like some flavors better in one that the other. I am no help haha

Well, now I did it :D Thank you for the codes, dormouse. I made good use of them at Vapor4Life. I ordered:
2 manual batteries, 1 PCC (Portable Charging Case), 1 Manual USB Passthrough, 1 USB charger, 1 Standard Wall Charger, 1 Car Adapter, and 5 Cartomizers (in Hilton flavor), 5 choco peppermint cartomizers, some blanks and some wintergreen juice, and 5 cocktail and 5 coffee cartomizers, and an extra longer battery for good measure....how's that for jumping in with both feet :)

Anything else I might need right away?
