Quick intro, picked up analog during poly days, told myself i'd stop after poly ends. Didn't happen as i enlisted into the army and cigg is the thing that keeps me sane as it holds a somewhat 'special connection' that i have to the civi life. ORDed and im still on analog as it becomes a habit(always believe i smoke due to habit and not addiction).

Having a very bad cough till my chest hurts which made me worry. Then just nice read an article regarding ecigg and got me interested.

What bout you guys? Share how/why you wanna switch to ecigg?

At least a bit safer way to get your nicotine dose

Cleans lungs or at least doesn't cause any tar/carbon buildup in lungs so they can start their natural cleaning process

You can manage to do sports better than before

Your clothes smell like fruits/dessert/candy if you decide to use those flavors, so no more stale cig smoke odor coming from your clothes

You don't have to go outside to do it all the time, this greatly depends on where you live if they allow a candy/fruit/dessert smelling cloud of vapor indoors or not

Eventually you'll get better immunity against diseases/infections for not smoking cigarettes, which lower your immunity, maybe not much but at least a little

I see, yeah the health benefits is why i wanna get off cigg. So is the feel of vaping closer to that of smoking or shisha in terms of the lung hit? I enjoy smoking cigg more of because i enjoy the lung hit
It's closer to shisha I imagine, at least with my setup, a regular ego-style battery is closer to a normal cigarette in terms of vapor production and possibly throat hit, but th!t also greatly depends on the liquid used and the tank used

Here's a quick '101' on liquid, nicotine and throat hit:

E-Liquid is made out of 4 things:
1. Propylene Glycol
2. Vegetable Glycerine
3. Nicotine
4. Flavorings (may or may not contain more than 1 ingredient, most likely around 2-5 different items, like alcohol, natural and artificial flavoring and propylene glycol)

Vapers refer to Propylene Glycol as PG and Vegetable Glycerine as VG, so I'll use those from now on:

More PG in liquid = more flavor and stronger throat hit

More VG in liquid = larger vapor production, muted flavor and practically no throat hit

Most vapers who are quitting smoking use 18mg liquids with PG-based liquids, so you could try a 70/30 mix with 18mg of nicotine, where in 70% of the whole liquid content is PG and 30% is VG, so it provides a strong throat hit with good flavor.

For a beginner vaper, I suggest a starting kit, like the Kanger EMOW, which comes with 2 batteries, 2 tanks, extra atomizer heads, case and charger, so you can always have 1 battery as a backup and fully charged when you use the other

There are always other, slightly more advanced setups like:

iTaste MVP 2.0 and Aspire Nautilus with BVC coils

Or

eLeaf iStick 20w mod and Aspire Nautilus with BVC coils

I hope this helps you even the slightest

I think most everyone here vapes with the hope that they can get themselves off of burning tobacco. Some do it with the first hit of a good vape, some never give up smoking and most of the rest of us fall in between. Everyone is different. I started vaping in 2009, got down to two cigs a day from a pack...and then proceeded relapsed after 2 years. Started vaping again a couple weeks ago and quickly got back down to my 2 analogs...much quicker than the first time. I am determined to drop those last two a day smokes this time. The equipment has advanced so much since I stopped vaping that I'm sure I'll be successful this time.

The vaping hardware of today is quite improved over that which was state of the art when I stopped in 2011, and I think it's wonderful.

I stated that in my post, the long one.

More PG equals to more flavor and throat/lung hit, remember that nicotine boosts the effect even more, so you might not be able to do full lung hits with 18mg liquid

You can try it for the cost of a couple packs of cigs, low risk. The day I started my cigs dropped to 4-5 per day from 25, after six weeks I ran out of cigs and didn't buy more. That was a week ago. Its not about "quitting", it's about control. From day one I had 80% control. At the moment I have 100% control. I like being in control.

When I first made the switch I used 65/35 PG/VG and mostly RY4 types to replicate actual cigs. After 3 months I'm using 50/50 bakery/dessert flavors. My first setup was an eGo/Kanger but quickly switched to an iStick and Nautilus Mini.. which I love but will be doing RDA's pretty soon.

Just a bit of advice from a 55 year old ex-military guy. Don't wait until you end up with COPD like I did. If you can get off analogs... do it soldier.

I was mainly motivated by the cost difference. Between my wife and I we were spending the best part of $400 a month on cigarettes. Another issue for me is that many years of smoking has done some serious damage to my gums and the bone in the jaw. Switching turned out to be effortless, but I think that was because I started witha flavor that I loved, licorice. I got my first ecig on a Tuesday night, Wednesday I smoked 5 cigarettes, because the ecig didn't seem to give me the kick that that first cigarette of the day did. I smoked three on my way to work/sitting around before work. Later that day my battery died and I smoked two more until I could get to my spare. The next morning I again started off with a cigarette, but the funny thing was I kept reaching for my ecig even while smoking the cigarette. When I put that one out, it was the last one I really had any desire to smoke. I didn't quit because I particularly wanted to, I liked my cigarettes, it just turned out that I preferred vaping more. I'll second jarchack and say "Just a bit of advice from a 52-year-old ex-military guy. Don't wait until you get serious gum disease and bone loss like I have, you CAN get off analogs...do it!"

Hi,
Since a few days ago my dad got an ego ce5 e-cig with menthol and 16 mg nicotin apple. I first didn't intend to switch from analog, or to buy, or to....

But after a few puffs.....i now can't stand analog cigarette!

I don't have an e-cig yet, i signed up on this forum to ask about a specific set up i want to combine, but yeah....i can't post yet until i replied 5 times. Perhaps i have to flood a thread lol.

I wanted an innokin 1280 with an iclear 30s, but after reading a drawbacks.....and nope! This is not the specific set up i want to ask about. I will post a question about it after i flooded a thread ;)

But lets stick to the poster's question. I want to switch because....after just a few puffs from my dad's e-cig, analog cig tastes like ****censored**** :D

Oh i forgot something! And no, i don't mean to flood :D

I smoke for years already. I started smoking when i was 17, now i'm 26. I spend only 40 euros (around 45 us$) per month. The first thing i thought when vaping my dad's e-cig was whoa fruit! Wow cheaper cost! I have been imagining something like uhmmmm...."i still wanna smoke, but please don't stink, don't make my house's wallpapers and stuff go brown and ugly! Please a healthier cigarette!" I thought it was impossible! Of couse i had known about about e-cig, i had bought a cig-a-like e-cig years ago, but it tasted like bah! And if i'm not mistaken/if i still remember, back in the days, e-cig didn't produce smokes. Or at least the e-cig i had bought (disposable one).
