I clean mine weekly or with flavor change. Mine seem to last for many months. I like to use a new one every month. I always take the working old ones and store them for future use. I think that performance diminishes after a month or two but they still work well enough to continue to use for atleast a month or more. I use 70pg/30vg mix and heavily sweetened juice and I have a few atty's that are 4mos old and still work but the ones that have 6mos use on them I throw out.

I steam clean mine once every week or two with a jet type steam cleaner for about 30secs. I only have two atty's going and have a couple untouched ones for backup. Both of these atty's are coming up on 4 months use. They still look and work like brand new.

I did not start steam cleaning them until they were about a month old and saw a discussion on this group about it and thought I would try it. You should have seen the gunk that came out of them the first time - yuk and I was vaping that... If it shortens the life and the two I am using are representative of my expected life span with atty's (4 months and still going strong) then I can live with it.

I vape about 2ml - 2.5ml of clear to caramel colored juices a day and have no gunk build up or any other problems with mine since after the first time I cleaned them.

The bottom line is I'm not sure if cleaning them is proper or not. However, I own the HH .357 atomizer and they recommend cleaning around once a week. I found cleaning made a much more enjoyable vape. It helps erase the old flavors and make the new ones taste how they should.

Having said that, I rinsed mine out too much, and even though I cleaned it using the prescribed method, it developed a slight leaking issue.

some are winners, some are losers...
all the ones that I've cleaned/soaked (pga, iso, etc) died shortly thereafter.
I've stopped cleaning and use a separate atty for each flavor.
I keep mine flooded and usually get ~ 10 days (50ml) out of them

Flooding an atty will also shorten the lifespan. Its as bad as running them dry.
