As a long term vaping individual I may be able to shed some light on all of this. I have found that the longest lasting atty's by far are the 901s. I use LR 901s and each atty usually lasts a minimum of 3 months. What I have found is that if you stick to using menthol PG liquids they are quite clean, so there is never any reason to clean the atty. If I want to vape a heavy flavor (loving brandy chocolate) I fill 5ml bottle and vape that, then revert back to menthol (actually red bull is pretty clean too). Here's a quick list of clean flavours - (all PG, VG is an atty killer) - Menthol, Watermelon, Red Bull, RY4, Pepsi. The tobacco flavours are medium types and most of the chocolate types are murderers of the sacred atty.

Dripping is by far the best method, just add 2 or 3 drops directly into the atty and vape till vapor drop. Also, use a passthrough when you're at home, I think the consistent voltage helps the atty last a bit longer. Remember, there will always be a dud atty in about every 10 you purchase (one that only lasts a week, or never works from the get go).

510 attys would last me 3 to 4 weeks. Switched to the old 901s and these just never die!!!

I believe, like everyone else is saying - it really depends on the juice you're using - clearer the better on the atty.

I clean my current atty at the end of the day with PGA (12 drops) and blow it out...seems to keep atty's working for up to 4 weeks with no problems.

Using on Provari typically with PS & GV eliquids.

Could you just yank the wick once it gets yellowed or brown?

I'm using LR 510 attys on eGo batteries, dripping only. After a week the flavor gets bad. Mostly using PG or 50/50 PG VG tobacco flavors from MyFreedomsmokes, AltSmoke, Alien Visions (100% VG, use rarely)

I've aggressively cleaned standard 510 attys to various degrees of success. Currently I'm just tossing the LRs after 2 weeks and buying more.

Dang, my LR 306 attys last me like 3 months. First, I debridge/dewick them (just yank it out with a pair of needle nose pliers, watch the coil though) Then I dry burn them every week or two. There's very good instructions for this on the forum someplace, but here's what I do:

1. Rinse it under the faucet and blow it out.
2. Screw it into the battery and give it short blasts. The idea is to release just as the coil starts to turn red. At first, only a small portion of the coil will turn red and it'll issue some nasty smelling smoke. Eventually, all the gunk on the coil will burn off and the entire thing will turn red evenly. You'll also see all the gray ash on it when it cools.
3. Rinse it and blow it out again.
4. Repeat step 2
5. Rinse it again and either let it dry overnight or (what I usually do) dry burn it again to dry it out.
6. I put about 6 drops in initially to soak it in, then vape away :)

My record so far is a Joye 306 from Liberty Flights that lasted 4 1/2 months

I get a long long time out of good atomizers, although occasionally I find a bad one or a bad type in general. I recommend you clean them BEFORE they start to not work or taste bad. I also have moved away from soaking them and went to a flush them out style. I take a blunt tip syringe and fill it with Vodka or Distilled water and flush it through the battery side and out the mouthpiece side. I also give the mouthpiece side a flush or two. Afterwards I gently blow out the excess and let them dry for a LONG time, usually a few days. Once I am SURE they are dry I give them a quick dry-burn (like 5 seconds) and then prime them with enough juice to saturate them and let them sit for 10mins. I blow out the excess again, add 1-2 more and go to town.

I just recently picked up this method after killing a few of my old faithfuls by soaking.

how long should you dry burn attys for?
My atty is having so many problems and it seems like nothing can seem to conquer it.

One day, was working fine great vapor taste easy to pulll
Next day, fails... so much force to pull, nearly burnt taste, minimal vapor

Ive tried both alcohol and currently in the process of water + dry burn (not sure if i even dry burned it right)
Please pm me suggestions on what to do! Im clueless now, and directions on how to dry burn would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
