Water in a regulated device

The e-LVT. The Really Tough but not close to being waterproof, Mod. Part 1

While the e-LVT is advertised as water resistant, it doesn't seem to work out very well in practice. I'm sure there are others, but that's the only one I know about.

I've never seen a mod where the chip was easy to get out...but it's generally possible to get it out with finagling. Example, the Vamo, where people do remove and replace their chips and buttons, but not without some difficulty.

Was the Heatvape Invader 50w a fail?
Don't hear much about it.
I saw this video where they put it through hell and it survived. They actually broke a vice grip with it *L*

As for the water resistance they did not really test that part of it. In all honesty I think people should just not try to drop their mod in water :/

Interesting thread. I have one box reg device and in the back of my mind is the worry that I cant really clean it. I can blow it out with gentle air, clean the contacts carefully etc. I know it has a "limited" life span and someday will stop working.

I know some have replaced the chip , but someday a humble 60watt chip might not even be available and that it would cost me as much as buying another one.

I do know that some have converted their reg devices with a "mosfet" type of wiring and you can still enjoy your box mod. That is probably how I will go.

Its just such a shame that so many of the high end boxes are made with such beautiful woods and someday end up as a lovely paper weight.

.... Kickers did a YouTube video about the Heatpipe Invader. He mentioned the normal caveats about the ip whatever water resistance, but went out on a limb to say that based on what he'd done to it - he considered it waterprooof. (Sorry, I'm too lazy to find & link the review from YouTube, but it's there if you look for it).
