Should I change my setup to a simpler one?

You should simply be aware of any potential dangers, which may occur.

A member just posted that his new regulated device got very warm. When he/she opened up the battery compartment, the battery spring was glowing orange, Apparently, the said spring had shorted against the case. If not noticed in time, this could have ended very badly for the user.

No one is attempting to be harsh. Some are simply concerned when people are so unfamiliar with their vaping gear.

ETA: It is good that you are asking questions.

Thanks for all the advice guys. My friend just informed me that my setup some kind of circuitry to prevent shorts and it will shut off if i use it too much. At any rate, I will have to do with this setup tonight and and go to a vape store tomorrow morning to avoid lighting up a real cigarette which is available to me right now since my wife still smokes. I am not really into blowing clouds but I do really like the amount of flavour I get with my setup. I guess I should just set it as low as it goes which is 3.2 and hope I can find something I like tomorrow. Thanks again guys.

A regulated mod will have protective circuitry on board to keep you out of trouble. If anything dangerous should occur, the mod will refuse to fire the atomizer and provide an error code on the LED screen. This is a much wiser choice than using a mechanical mod with no protection for a novice to mods.

Listen to these Mentors OP, the guy that rigged me up on my first vape did a rebuildable mod and I was in no way competent to use it safely. Three months later, I'm playing with them, after watching many YouTube videos AND reading here...

good luck!!

My friend says that my mod is regulated.

Sounds good; you mentioned it's got a screen so sounds like it is a regulated mod, not a mech.

https://store.vape-street.com/product/atb-wooden-box-mod/
ATB variable-voltage (VV) basic specifications:

Green LED screen (hidden when battery cover is on).

Adjustable voltage from 3.5 to 6.5 volts (approximately).

Shell is made of aged hard wood w/ ATB engraving on battery door.

Safety protection – built-in protection for short-circuit, over-voltage, over-current and over-heating. 10 Amp TI chip regulator (Step-down) – provide users wider range of power settings. This mod can go more than 30 watts of power consumption without compromising safety.

Requires two 18650 batteries not included

The last part about 'requires two 18650 batteries' bothers me.

The part that bothers me is the review I saw shows the reviewer vaping with a 0.1 ohm coil. This does not operate like a regulated mod as we currently know them. This operates more like a variable voltage mod.

I'll study up first eratikmind. Being sold out I'm guessing is the reason why my cousins and their friends keep ordering mods from here. Been vaping for a month and a half and I've already sent out seven of these wood mods. It's nice here, changing wicks is free forever in the store if you buy your stuff from them.

That's a scary picture Ginny. Did you get hurt? I am listening to them. That's why i ended up with more questions. Thanks

HI Baditude. Does VV mean variable voltage and VW variable Wattage?

Some regulated devices afford the user to either adjust either the voltage or the wattage to suit their taste. Some regulated devives afford the user one or the other, as a method of adjustment.

Your device, I believe, is variable voltage, yes?

I'm not sure eratikmind. My friend no longer answers any of my texts. He is probably asleep. I'm about to sleep as well. It's almost midnight and I have to wake up early tomorrow and get myself simple and safe cape gear before I end up with real cigarettes again. I'll get back to you on that. Anyway, thanks all of you for helping me out. You guys were a big help. Goodnight.

You do have a lot to learn. :facepalm:Can you share what ohm the coil is in your atomizer? Do you have an ohm reader? What batteries are you using? Make, model, mah, and amp? (Using the correct batteries is extremely important.)
Wow, looks like I too have much to learn (young padawan)... I just picked up an eVic Supreme, and am looking into eventually getting into modding. A friend at work just got a mod, and she had no idea how to work it, so one of our shipmates helped her out and built it up for her. Great flavor and vapor. This is what made me sign up here to try and learn the ropes!
