I started vaping primarily because I wanted a lower-cost alternative to smoking, but I also want to eventually eliminate nicotine from my diet and just generally vape less.

Aside from being addicted to nicotine, I'm also a spreadsheet addict. So to help me keep track of my behavior, I made one. The goal is to keep track of purchases and compare it to money saved by not smoking as well as the amount and strengths of what I vape to better understand how I can cut down. Here it is:

Vaping Datasheet

So far, I've lost a lot of money, but that's okay and I think expected. My first eGo starter was a bust and so were some of my Internet juice purchases, I had to find out what tanks work for me (iClear16), I bought an MVP (works great!), buying extra tanks, etc... I'm feeling optimistic that once I find the right liquid for me, I'll be gold.

It seems it doesn't actually matter what strength the liquid is. In the morning and after meals, I crave the 18mg, but for the rest of the day it's just about puffing. The 18mg just happens to be my top flavor. I can't stand a lot of the stuff I have right now. Sad, isn't it? Hopefully my next order (6mg stuff) will work out and I'll be able to drop my nicotine avg.

I'm not going to account for nicotine absorption. I think 100% is fine for trending purposes. If anyone is interested, I could make it a little less personalized and release it as a template.

Not sure where you are located in Ohio, but there are several vape shops in the state which have juice tasting bars where you can sample the flavors prior to buying them. Sure beats the hit/miss of buying blind over the internet. Why not plan a day trip to your nearest vape shop and find your all day vape.

congrats on making the important step of eliminating tobacco cigs from your diet. contrary to what my signature states i’m sure i’ve spent more money vaping than if i had continued smoking. but that was by choice. the cig-a-like starter kit introduced me to a whole new world. when i began vaping i hadn’t a clue about all the awesome flavors and e-cig gadgets that were waiting for me. sure i could’ve saved money if i stuck to my cig-a-likes but i was very curious about the clearomizers, batteries, juices and other vaping contraptions that, in a way, this new fascination helped keep my mind off analogues altogether.

and today i got a variable voltage battery, the hits seem so much more intense compared to the standard ego’s i’d been using that for the first time i’m thinking about stepping down my nic juice from 18mg to 12mg. all in all i can’t really dwell on the added expenses because the results have kept me from back sliding into deathly embrace of big tobacco.

Thanks. Been to both of them. I don't like a single flavor at the "premium" store. The other one sells Dekang and other brands that don't have labels for $7.50 per 10ml and half the taste bar smells like rubbing alcohol... local isn't working for me.

I have a little bit of a similar problem, although I do like a couple of the Halo flavors, which are available locally -- at quite a substantial markup, as is to be expected from a retail store. But the Virginia flavor I love and vape all day every day is from an online vape shop in north carolina, myfreedomsmokes.com. Decent prices, but I have to order a pretty good bit at a time because they only have 2-day priority shipping and up, no reg. 1st class shipping at all.

I use spreadsheets for a lot of diff stuff, but I'm not organized enough to do it as you're doing it. Mainly I use it for budgeting - what we have to pay, and what's left over for buying groceries and whatnot. Also for getting nicotine strengths averaged properly by knowing how many parts of each juice to mix for a target nicotine level -- I can't go above 9mg, rather stay at 8mg in the daytime and 6mg at night. I'm all about the puffing, and the throat hit; the actual nicotine makes me very sick, with all my puffing, if it's too high. lately I've also been using to plan out my vapemail purchases, so much from this one, so much from that one. :D Trying to get as much as I can from 3 or 4 vendors, to save on shipping.

I'm gonna jump over here and simplify things here too bud. 2 keys: right Juice and reliable hardware for your needs. It works, but you gotta find the juice and the hardware that reliably fits the juice (taste, throat hit and vapor). Not all tanks, attys, cartys, drips, deliver the same. Still much cheaper than smoking and you will feel like a newborn!

My unit: ego 900mah with mini evod 1.8ohm. Vape on!!!

You said it right, Mikejeater. I feel the same way. I know I am fortunate that I found I liked most every juice I've tried since I started. Some more than others, but they have all been quite pleasant.

I started with the ego and Evod clearomizers and put the cigarettes down the day I got my kit. I recently got the MVP 2 and it is sure a lot of bang for the buck, about $40 (or a carton of cigarettes. Ha!) A carton never lasted me a week, and I plan to be using the MVP for a long time! I'm able to use my Evods on the MVP which makes me happy.

I applaud your spreadsheet efforts. I, too, am a spreadsheet junkie and have been sober for 34 minutes.

I didn't do one for vaping though because, like the puff counter..........I would be ashamed to look at it.

There are two factors at play here for a priority for you. First, is quitting and second is cost savings. Focus on those things because it is hard to save money and venture too far off down the rabbit hole. I stockpile a lot of backups but I also buy a lot of new things to try. I could save a ton of money if I just stuck to one juice, one rebuildable with one type of build and cotton balls for wick.........but sadly, I don't.
