We need letters from all of you nurses, legislators, doctors, scientists, researchers, lawyers, health experts, etc...

We need to know why you feel personal vaporizers (PV's) are NOT detrimental to the health of people around the PV user.

We need them by email or regular mail... but we need them by 6/23. If your DOCTOR told you that these are better for you than smoking.. call him and ask if he would write a letter stating such.

If you know the law and can help argue that putting vapers in smoking environments is harmful to vapers... help us out.. write a letter.

If your Dotor told you that your lung condition has been improved by PV use.. please get a letter stating such.

If you are a doctor who prescribes asthma inhalers which contain Propylene Glycol... please write a letter stating such and why this is relevant to PV's.

If you are a chemist and can comment as to the amount of eliquid needed to be LETHAL.. please write us a letter!

If you are a nurse and know the effects of PG on the lungs.. write us a letter!

If you are a chemical expert who can determine from the New Zealand study (http://healthnz.co.nz/RuyanCartridgeReport21-Oct-08.pdf ) if there is any toxin other that acetaldehyde and acroelin in the exhaled vapor please write us a letter!

If you are well written (TB?) and can put together a well organized and CONCISE argument against the reasons they argue for banning the PV.. please write us a letter!


Most importantly... If you know someone on this board who can help and is NOT reading this... PLEASE send them a link to this thread!

Letter should be addressed to "Suffolk County Legislators". We will FWD all that are appropriate or bring them for club members to read at the meeting on 6/23.

If you could enumerate the arguments against PVs in one concise list, I could come up with a counter-letter. I don't have letters after my name, but a well-worded letter from "some dude" might help just the same.

I think you need to check those figures for the toxicity of nicotine. It's usually given as 30 to 60 mg of nicotine PER KILOGRAM of body weight.
So that 160 lb person is about 72.5 kg. That yields a range of 2175 to 4350 mg total for a fatal dose.
So your figure of 60 mg on the tongue is way off.
You know why terrible nicotine poisoning is no longer common in ERs? It's because the highest concentration of nicotine was in an insecticide called "Black Leaf 40." It's been banned for years.
