I have a AW imr 18500 1100mah battery and a blue no name 2200 mah battery. heres the deal I was building sub ohm coils around .4 to.5 ohms and my rig was spraying the vapor I mean thick massive clouds well I build coils now that are supposed to be around .3 to .4 and its just not vaping like it was I could take one second hits and cloud the room now its just lagging and the clouds are not as thick and I have to hit it longer. my current build is 28g 2mm 7 wraps supposed to be .4 but it just seems weak. can anyone explain this? do I need new batteries? I checked the voltage this morning it said 4.26. and I think my ohm reader is junk to its saying .7 to .9 for anything I build. please help

AW imr 18500 1100mah battery - is OK to go to 0.5 on as it is a 16 amp C. If this battery has not been over discharged previously and is metering at 4.2 - then my guess is you either have a loosened screw in your build (or post that is maybe a hair loose on whatever you are building on) OR you need to clean all of your connection points on whatever mech is being used.

Ding! Ding! Ding! If you have a charger that is over-charging to 4.26 volts - and probably even higher than that before you check voltage - your charger may be contributing to premature death of those batteries. I'm afraid to ask what charger it is - like does it have the word "core" in the name?

"core" is probably ok, it's "fire" he needs to be concerned about...

Yup, this ^^^ could well be the reason your batteries are failing. The charger should not charge them over 4.2V for best life expectancy. Time to buy a new one.

Plus, you really need to have a way to check atty resistance. It's good to know what the coil is supposed to meter, but you could have a short in the setup and if your meter doesn't work right you might never know.

It's also smart to not use an unknown battery. I would not vape the blue one.

"core"'s has been reported to overcharge on ECF by several people, in one case killing batteries to zero volts in short order. IMO they aren't any better than "fire." If ever there was a charger brand that needed to have battery voltages monitored with a meter to make sure it's still working properly it would be a "core".

Huh, hadn't heard that. I actually use an Xtar model, with an Intellicore for backup. But I've read many reports of the Trustfire being problematic.

Odd, my 4 bay Intelecharger has never given me any reason for concern. However it was purchased directly from a U.S Distributor and is likely not a clone.

same here, and i meter my batteries going in and coming out. sony vct5's charge to 4.18V and my new Samsung 25r's charge to 4.16 V every time. i also recharge at 3.8, that where i notice the drop off. no problem and the sony's are about 3 months old.

Same here. My Nitecore Intelli has done every VCT4 and VCT5 to 4.18v everytime. I do pop them out and check them every now and then if the charge time seems really long, but they always end up metering out just over 4v. The charger usually kicks off shortly after.

There's a LOT that's wrong with this post!

Is your AW battery an 18500 battery or a 18490 battery? The authentic AW battery in this size is an 18490. If the battery says 18500 on it, it is a counterfeit battery. AW does not sell an 18500 battery. How to Identify Counterfeit AW batteries

AW18490.jpg AW 18490 IMR 1100 mah

NEVER use a generic no-name battery in ANY mod, especially not with sub-ohm coil builds. You never use a battery that you don't know the amp limit for. Stop using the blue battery, its dangerous.

I'm questioning why you are saying "is supposed to be" a certain ohm coil. If every coil build you make always turns out to be a 0.7 - 0.9 ohms no matter what you build, you've got a lousy ohm meter and need to get a new one.

Get with the program. If you don't use the right batteries and don't have a reliable ohm meter, you have no business making coils. If you don't understand why, click on this link: Explain it for the Dumb Noob

I have both a Nitecore Intellicharger i2 and i4. Never had a problem with them charging over 4.2 volts each and every time. How are you checking your battery voltage?

Ouch my rear is sore! I got everything sorted tonight went to my local brick and mortar that sold me those batteries demanded a refund (I buy a lot of juice there if I run out of TFA ) my bud gave me a Sony vtc4 from his stable. I got 4 MNKE 1500mha 30a from fatdaddysvapes and a i4 charger. About the meter I was told by he depot that I had to touch the leads and subtract the amount from my reading and now I'm on track put the numbers in the calculated built the coil metered it and all is well. I took the advice and cleaned my Atty and contacts. Thanks for the chewing everyone. Honestly!
