Weak/Dead Batteries?

I have a Reo Mini and I'm using AW high drain batteries. For the last month or so, I'm getting a throat burn on the inhale and not much flavor out of my juice. Could it be the batteries? They're about 5 months old. The carto I'm using is not dry at all and works fine in a sparkplug. Before I order new ones, I want to confirm that it;s the batts and not something else, but seems like it to me.
