Weight gain/loss after quitting cigs...

In my experience, quitting cigarettes came with many positive side effects. (few negatives) Weight gain was a side effect that seamed to be negative at first, but has proven to be a positive after 18 months smoke free. Initially I gained some weight but after my body cleansed itself of many toxins, I started to lose the weight I had gained. My stamina increased and I had more motivation to exercise. And best of all, FRUIT TASTES AMAZING. Overall I am so very grateful for e-cigs. If you experience some weight gain, give it some time. The benefits greatly outweigh (get it) the detriments to your health. Does anyone else have an experience with weight gain/loss after quitting cigs?

i think the old paradigm of "weight gain after quitting smoking" has more to do with people replacing the oral fixation of smoking, with food. Vaping removes that issue because it replaces that oral fixation; by having something to puff on, we're much less likely to overeat to try to placate the oral fixation. I don't know if the sweet juice flavors may also add to that - but i have not eaten any more than usual since i started vaping, and i attribute that to still having something to put in the mouth and puff on as i wean myself off the nicotine and chemicals.

At some point i may no longer need the vaping either, as the old oral fixation habit also begins to lessen it's grip. But for now, it helps IMMENSELY in the ability to be able to put down the cigarettes, and replace them with something EMINENTLY less harmful.

I don't see myself gaining any weight - as I have no need to eat more than usual. Overall i feel much lighter, my breathing is easier, and I'm more motivated to go walking/running now that I'm not coughing with every exertion, so i expect to actually lose some excess weight and get more fit, overall, now that the cigs are not holding me back.

I lost a bit of weight when I started vaping. Some was dehydration of course but, mostly, I tended to vape more than I smoked so had tastes going on all day and just didn't eat as much. But, at about the one-year mark, that leveled off. Now I'm back to the same old way I've always been... watching the scale for increases. :-(

I had already been drinking 64 oz of water a day so I didn't have any dehydration issues. I had already been losing weight prior to vaping and am still losing at about the same rate. I agree that weight gain on previous attempts to drop analogs more likely came from the snacking to do something with my hands. (I'm a fiddler, so vaping is perfect for me, LOL!)
