Weird Taste from Ekowool

I just got some T3S clearomizers from fasttech. They were flooding so I took the silica (actually looked like cheap string) out from the atomizer. I replaced it with Ekowool and now am getting a weird / bad taste. I preboiled the Ekowool and let it dry. Any suggestions?

You need to torch it, boiling doesn't really work.

Never boiled my 3mm ekowool, although i do heat it to red using either a torch or gas stove, then rinse it after trimming to length. Seems to have a weird flavor if i dont. Also takes silica of any type a while to fully 'absorb' a flavor.

Keep in mind heating it up will stiffen it up significantly.

weird, i have ekowool and it is fine when i have it nice and soaked in juice

Thanks for the torching tip! I had been trying to get that really WIERD flavor to go away but nothing was working, I boiled for 15 rinse and boiled again and still it tasted like .... crack!

My flavor isn't perfect yet, but i'm getting much much closer now!
