I am brand spankin new to rebuilding. This is about my 3 third rebuild. This time I did dual coil. It seems to be working great but ever since my first build I've had this weird taste getting in the way and I'm thinking it might be the cotton ball. Can anyone help me ? They are rite aide brand

I get that taste too when using cotton balls or cotton yarn but it always goes away after 10 - 20 hits.

I always wash my hands just before picking up a cotton ball. I keep them in a zip lock bag.

Interesting ima try that here if it does not go away I have to run the post office, the mail man has a terrible habit of not leaving me vape mail
Worth washing the hardware, as most machining requires oil, which may be left over after fabrication. Same thing with your Kanthal, which is extruded and spooled without cleaning.
Exactly! Wash the RDA to get machining oil residue off, torch your Kanthal and you'll SEE it buring off (smoking and flame colors), and boil/rinse your cotton a couple of times in a very well cleaned pot and strainer. Most use organic cotton since it's not been bleached white and therefore (hopefully) has less chemicals in it.
If you don't have one, I'd strongly recommend getting one of these (or something similar). They're not very expensive and can be found at Wally World, hardware stores, Amazon etc...
