Well, Here We Go...

I came to the conclusion last week that if I don't start DIY-ing my juice, I'm going to be spending as much on juice per week as I did on smokes. Plus, all this talk about banning flavored juice has me worried.

So, I just placed my first order of DIY supplies. I'm going to try to clone my favorite juice, Solomon Sibley, which is a mix of vanilla ice cream and gingerale, and to make a tiramisu flavor since that is my favorite thing ever and i haven't found a single tiramisu juice out there. I got Flavor Art tiramisu, and Flavor West vanilla ice cream and gingerale flavors, some 50/50 nicotine base, and some VG to dilute.

I really appreciate all the helpful blogs and posts in this forum, which have made me think that I might be able to make my own juice without causing a disaster. Fingers crossed, wish me luck!

DIY us easy and lot's of fun, once you get the flavor profiles (and percentages) down.

I have the FA Tiramisu and use it to make the following (all FA)

Tiramisu 2%
Catalan Cream 1%
Vienna Cream 1%
Fresh Cream 1%

As a stand alone flavor I'd probably start at 2-3%. You can always add more if that's not strong enough. Also, it does mellow and gets better with age.

Enjoy! :vapor:

I was eyeing that Catalan Cream, but I wasn't sure what it was like. Do you find that the FA tiramisu is too coffee all by itself and not creamy enough? That is what I was slightly concerned about…but I was trying to keep the order cheap for my first try (I had 75 bucks worth of flavors in my cart, and then forced myself to back it off a notch. :))

My wife loves Tiramisu and I've yet to get it right using FA Tiramisu flavor. Every time she thinks there's to much coffee.

For me yes, but I'm one of those that likes a little coffee with my cream. ;) I rarely drink coffee but when I do it has to have lot's of cream.

Try it by itself first. If it's not to your liking, then start adding things to it. How I do that is to add a drop or two of "whatever" into my tank. If I like it, then I can add it to the mix. If not, I've only wasted what's in the tank.

I got some vanillas, the vanilla ice cream, a tahitian and a madagascar vanilla. Because, if worse comes to worse, I feel pretty certain that I could make a straight up vanilla juice and be content vaping it for a while.

Keep in mind that vanillas take time to "meld" with other flavors (and even with themselves) and will get much better with time (or heat or ultrasonic steeping).

When I first started DIY I made the mistake of adding more and more vanilla to my mix because I couldn't taste it. I was using high strength cooking bourbon vanilla that I got straight from the extractor and wound up with several VERY gunked up coils.

I'm coming to the same realization as well. I've just started researching yesterday. It seems really difficult- a lot of trial and error, but I'm hoping that's just because I'm not familiar with the specifics.

I'm interested in your progress along the journey so I've subbed to your thread :)

I'm actually kind of excited about the process and the tinkering and the trial and error! I like to concoct stuff, though…I make soap, and cleaning supplies, and supplements for my bees, and I enjoy the whole mad scientist chemistry aspect of all those things. There are so many good blogs on the subject here, and so much good information, I just read threads and blogs on ECF for a week or so until I'd convinced myself that it was do-able. If it turns out to be easy, just the 40 bucks I've spent on supplies will keep me in juice for months. If it's harder, it's still appealing because I could in theory make whatever flavor juice I want, way cheaper than buying it, and have it on hand all the time.

I'll keep you posted on how it goes!
