and just have to say that <1 month into vaping... i'm still amazed.
this visit just kinda sealed it for me.
first of all--flying. no panic at the airport. no running around looking for smoking areas/bars at the airport that allow smoking. a MUCH more leisurely experience. no needing a wad of nicorette the size of a baseball in my jaw on the plane, no counting the minutes, er, seconds, until the plane sets down. no breaking into a sweat while taxi-ing and thinking FFS JUST LET US OFF THE FN PLANE.
second--staying with a non-smoker. now, my bestie is one of the rare breed of non-self-righteous non-smokers. her apt has a balcony, and she's always let me smoke in her car. but it was so nice to not be "stepping outside for a minute" all day long, so nice to not feel smoker's-guilt at stinking up her car, wanting to sit outside in the cold when we went for coffee, asking to sit at the bar at restaurants so i could smoke.
third--going out! at the bar, it was nice to not be switching seats so the smoke didn't go in her face. i still had my pack of 'safety' cigs with me, the entire trip, but most of them got bummed to bargoers, ha! and most of those... got converted after:
"WTF is that lighty-up-blue-deal you've got?"
"oh, i have an extra battery with me, would you like to try?"
"can i... uh, hang on to this the rest of the night?"
was just such a great visit and i never realized how conscious i was of all these things, as a smoker. it was awesome sitting in her room, laughing, vaping, drinking wine, without the constant interruptions of smoking.
and, so much fun that every now and then she'd say... "hmm... coffee flavor? smells nice..." "ooh, is that some kind of cinnamon?" "mmm, chocolate mint?"
