I got my Prodigy about three weeks ago. The first couple of days it was heaven, then I started having all sorts of problems. Vapor production way down. Very intermittent production. I was miffed to say the least. So disappointed that I ordered and received a SD. I posted here, got a ticket with Casey. Asked if I could send it back in for them to test it switched out the batts and charger. Cleaned the hell outta it metered it, the bats, the atty. Did everything that all the posts on this forum said to do... NOTHING!!!!!! Finally thought it had to be the switch. So ordered another one. That had to be it! Got it, put it in same *****.

I ordered a ten pack of tenergy batteries off Amazon.com (cause I had gift certificate) week or so ago. Today I charged two of them and threw them in the kit I carry of vap'n stuff. Got home tonight and started testing everything with the meter. All good! I switched the atty between the Pod and my SD. On the Prod very little vapor. On the SD nice cloud. I'm ready to junk this thing right through the window. Don't know why but in the process of taking everything apart testing etc. when I put it back together I happened to put the new bats into the prod. Massive clouds. WTF!!!!!!!!

It’s the stupid ****ing original batts that I got with the Prod. They somehow kill it, but the new Batts are kicking ....

Well, at least now I know! They tested OK! What happened to the originals I'll likely never know, but they are now trashed. Finally my Prodigy is vap'n like it did the first day I got it. WOW what a pain!!!!!!!!

If any of you are having trouble with your Prod try ordering bats from another source and a new charger and try switching them out. Hope none of you have to go through the same bull***t I just did.

I've had no such trouble, Though I just got my Prodigy a few days ago.
I've recharged both sets about twice each, no issues with charging and my batts are lasting anywhere from 5-7 hours with fantastic vapor, as soon as I notice a little bit of drop-off I pop them back on the charger for an hour or two, and I'm in business.

Sorry you've had so many issues, that really bites!
But I'm glad you still love your prodigy now that you've figured it all out :D

That sucks but glad you got it working. Are they going to do something about the crap batteries you got?

About two weeks ago when I initially got a ticket from them with my troubles they sent me a new charger, but not new bats. Since they tried with the new charger ~ hey, they tried. Obviously whatever happened with the bats the new charger didn't fix it. Since they were testing fine, who knew!!!

I wouldn't use those little silver Tenergy bats now if I was paid to take them. The ones from Amazon are a bluish~green. I will eventually find a source other than Tenergy and never look back. Until then I've got a ten-pack of the little blue~green guys that should keep me happy.

Sooo what would be good batteries? The 10 pack on Amazon appear to be the same ones that came with my Prodigy. The only blue ones I see say this:

Rechargeable RCR123A 3.0 V 650 maH Li-Ion Batteries

I didn't think they are as powerful as the originals, but I know squat about batteries.

Also, how would you know if they are protected or not?

I have ordered these batteries:

Tenergy RCR123A 3.0V 900mAh Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery (as low as) $3.99 ea!

They are a little stronger at 900mAh and are fully regulated and protected. The number of charge cycles are only 1000 but the other batteries 2000 cycles are not relevant if they get damaged from over discharging.

I know, they are these:

Tenergy LiFePO4 RCR123A 3.0V 750mAh Rechargeable Battery (as low as) $2.79 ea!

These are not fully protected.

Kevin

My understanding is that they are not technically 'protected' because they do not need to be, being they are LiFePO4.

Lithium iron phosphate battery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

They're never supposed to explode or catch fire, however you can damage them from overdischarging.

About LiFePO4

I'm very comfortable about the safety of these batteries after reading up on them.

That is the only point I am making. Protected batteries have a circuit on-board that prevents over charging and over discharging. Lithium batteries are very fragile and absolutely will fail if they are over charged or over discharged.

Cool, protection from over discharging I completely agree with. :)

I just didn't want anyone to think they could explode from such like an unprotected battery. I swap my batts every day to prevent over discharge.

The bats you have are protected from both over and under discharge. I have a bunch in front of me and they definitely do have a protection pcb built in.

I don't know why there aren't more disclaimers with the sale of these lithium batteries. They all need protection against over charge and discharging. These non-protected batteries are designed to be used in a circuit that has this protection incorporated into it. They were not designed to be used unprotected.

How many users stop vaping during the day and check the voltage of their batteries?

What is the lowest voltage you have seen on one of them?

Vapour stops longer before they get near 2.2v so I charge them before the protection circuit ever has to click in. I have seen them register 0 volts quite a few times but thats when I trigger the protection while I'm modding and get sloppy.
