Yes I am relatively new to this, just a few weeks in. I have recently converted to strictly dripping, because I find it easier than messing with carts all the time. But I have one issue. It seems inevitable that at least once every two days I run my atty dry. No indication of loss of flavor, and then wham, horrible burnt metal taste. I let it cool off, drip a few drops in (maybe for since it's so dry), let it sit, then try again. Immediately no flavor. Keep puffing on it and redrip every 8-9 drags, and still no improvement. If I drip anymore in, it comes out the sides. Are these things really THAT sensitive. I'd think that if running dry was just occasional, and was corrected after the first drag, it wouldnt hurt that much. And I am using a 510 model.

Are you getting any vapor? Or is it just tasteless?

Not sure what others experiences are, but when I use my 510 I have to load it up with 4 or so drops, then when it starts tasting burnt I do a maintenance dose of 2 drops to keep it going, sounds like you may have flooded it.

Blow it out and try again, if you are getting no vapor whatsoever (and don't hear a fizzle) the atty may have popped.

Im not sure what you mean when you say you run it dry.
I drip - I drip all the time and don't use filled carts on a 510. I add a couple of drops, vape unti lthe flavor starts to feel less intense (or the vapor tastes a bit harsh, never like metal to me though) and then redrip another couple drops. Occasionally I drip too many drops (or drip too soon) and flood it - I just blow it out and redrip and off I go again. My atties are never dry - because atties hate being dry more than anything. They do get immensely hot, but that wont hurt them if you keep them moist.
I know they are about to die if the draw gets really hard, or it just stops heating up altogether. I usually dont bother with the washing/cleaning cycle as I dont think it does much - or mine are too far gone by then for that to help lol. Yes they are delicate in some ways, and some don't last very long - they are a disposable product.
