Hi
New to expromizer and microcoil wrapping I did a 6 full wrap of .28 kanthal with 2mm inner diameter, which came out to 1.3 Ohm. Dry burned it to test it, it took 1-1.5 sec to glow red at 10 watts. Threaded some cotton and first few puffs great taste lots of vapor till the 4th-5th pull when I experienced burned.

Let it sit a while, same results by the 4th-5th pull.

The juice is a bit on the thick side, I admit.

What do you suggest?

Is that one coil? The first pic kind of looks like two coils. If that's only one coil you have way too much wick. And it shouldn't be pressed flat like that. You're most likely doing a mix of slow wicking due to too much wick and choking the wick because it's pressed flat.

Hope this helps, it's a learning process.

I own a couple of them and run a 3mm 9 wrap 1.7 ohm coil and it vapes consistently.....great.

I load up the coil with cotton and pull the wick through the chimney and cut it a mm or two above the chimney. I then take a jewelers screwdriver and work the wick into the chimney lightly, don't pack it and don't block the channels.

No disrespected intended mix1983 but I use much more cotton then he has in his pictures.

This is the method I use:

It's a great atomizer, my favorite for flavor so stick with it, once you nail it you'll be a big fan. I think PB has a video on his site building too.

I meant to remove the twisted pic to avoid any confusion but the forum made it an attachment.. interesting.

Anyway, the more I look at the pics, you can actually see the wick being choked off. Nice and saturated at the bottom, and white and dry at the top.

Again, chalk it up to learning. Easy fix really, the coil is still good, just re-wick it.

Cut and place the wick before you install the lower chimney. I can see now why you had it pressed down.

With the cotton sticking straight out, you should be able to cut it off in-line or just inside of the outside of the deck.

Then put some juice on the wick to make it easy to manipulate and gently coax it to fit within the little balcony there.

If done right, you should be able to install the lower chimney without disturbing the wick.

EDIT: I mistakingly thought I was responding to the OP. I'll leave this here still.

Hi there.
Sorry for the delayed getback, I 've been away.
Thanks for all the helpful answers.

Basically, I copied this setup from here; and yes it is one coil, not two, sorry for the pictures quality.
And yes. I positioned the wet cotton before I screwed on the chimney.

I am particularly impressed with this Mix1983 setup that the cotton is NOT even near the channels, and I have to ask: Does it not flood?

I will follow these other methods and get back, but it will be a while because my wife accidentally broke the pyrex tank and I am returning the steel portion of the tank because on one side it is NOT properly deburred / polished so it started cutting the O-Ring. (Please tell me if any of you experienced this).

Other than the cotton handling / positioning, please comment on the coil wire gauge, loop number, target resistance, micro vs spiral and especially inner diameter which is the key to the amount of cotton you can put through.

P.S.
1. How come all your coils are white? Don't you torch / pulse them before wicking?
2. Forgot to mention I am operating the long version of Expromizer (with the now broken pyrex).

for what it's worth, I use 30 gauge Kanthal wire, 7 wraps around a 1/16" mandrel gives me 1.3 to 1.35 ohms every time. I use Japanese cotton, split in half to make two thinner sheets out of a single thick pad. I cut into a strip about 1/8" wide, twist the very tip end into a point to feed it through the coil, the pull them straight up and put the lower part of the chimney on, trim so the cotton is about 1/8" above the top of the chimney, then tuck the cotton down to the side of the air channels, being sure not to plug up the channels. Prime with a bit of juice, and put everything back together, fill and vape.

Since I started using the Japanese cotton pads, I've had zero leaks and only a very rare dry hit.
