So I had a Kangertech Emow for a while and I liked it, although I wanted something that makes bigger clouds.

I bought a Joytech Cuboid with a Herakles tank (0.6 ohm atomizer). I just can't smoke it, at wattage lower than 25 it makes very little smoke, at higher wattage it's too hot in my throat and I can't smoke it.

How can I have it to be gentle in the throat like the kangertech Emow?

Thank you!

Use a higher VG contenf or switch to a lower level of nicotine.

@AzPlumber is most likely closer here. If you were using a higher nic juice with the original device, you might need to drop nic level when you start using one that vaporizes (please don't call it smoke, we are at war here) better. I was down to 12mg juice in the Protanks I was using two years ago, then I went to a dripper and had to drop to 6mg immediately. Better vapor production means you are getting more of everything, especially nic. When I started on subohm tanks last year, I was vaping more often, which led to some dizziness, so I dropped down to 3mg. When your equipment changes, always reevaluate your nic intake.

Actually I'm not sure the liquids are the issue cause I tested the same liquid in both devices and the effect was very different. Anyway, they are all without nicotine. It's not dizziness or the effect of nicotine that bothers me, it's the actual vapor (sorry for calling it smoke lol) in the throat that doesn't feel as smooth. I really don't understand why!

It's all about temp. You're going from an old-school higher resistance style coil to a sub-Ohm setup. It requires more power to heat up the larger wire and more airflow. You will need 30 Watts or better to get it cooking good, but then the vape will be hotter than you are used to. If you have the airflow restricted, that makes it worse.

Your options are to get used to it, try a higher resistance coil, or use temp control to limit how hot it gets.

FWIW, I'm a MTL person, so I just don't bother cloud-chasing. I can't stand the heat generated by sub-Ohm tanks plus the airy draw that requires DTL hits.

Since as you say there is no nicotine involved you may be experiencing the "throat hit" qualities of PG.

You can ether use a higher VG juice blend or slowly work your way into hitting on your current juice and device. The techniques I've used are:
    • leave a generous air gap around your dip tip while taking a small short puffs, this way you'll likely get as much or more fresh air than vapor. This dilutes the vapor to a (hopefully) more manageable amount
    • take small and short puffs into your mouth (don't inhale at first) and gradually work up to M2L and then finally D2L hits
    • depending on which mode of operation your using (VW or TC) you can start low where little vapor is produced and slowly work your way up to producing larger amounts of vapor
    • you will likely have to do one or more of the above each time your away from vaping for a few hours. (I have to ease myself into the juice I'm using every morning after getting up and every evening after work)
    Good luck!
