I'm a beginner when it comes to rebuilding, I just started a couple weeks ago. I would totally recommend the Subtank Mini for a tank and the Tugboat v2 clone for a dripper.

I find myself using my Subtank more just because I'm so used to the convenience of tanks, but I love trying out different builds on the Tugboat that can't be done on the Subtank.

Great! Thanks for the advice everyone! I already have. ST mini & I really do like the versatility of it & it was easy for me to do my first build. Thanks @sofarsogood & @VidGamrJ for suggesting the tugboat v2. I was also wanting a rba where I could try different builds without having to worry about emptying tank.

If you like, or don't mind, a tighter draw, kfun v4 or its tobeco clone is as easy to build as the STM RBA. Like the STM, no need to empty tank to tweak or replace the build. The draw is tighter than the STM even with the S-kit, but I prefer the way it looks. (Note to RTA designers -- visible o-rings look cheap). Never thought I'd care about what a tank looks like, but turns out I do lol.

I literally built my first coil last night and did a single coil build in a Aqua v2 by tobeco never touched an attu before it took me 15 minutes form disassemble to making my coil and Vaping was VERY VERY easy and on top of that you can take the full tank off and use the included dripper top and you get to try usin a dripper and a tank on the same atty for 20 bucks or cheaper I'd suggest it to any first time builder

I'd say the Kanger subTank. It is super easy to capture the leads at the posts. Just as important is the coil wrapping itself. The coil master makes the perfect coil every time. Count your wraps, flip it around (the coil on the bit) and pull one wrap off. My preference is 7 wraps of 28 gauge on a 2.5mm bit. Just lay the leads next to the screw and tighten up. Cut about 3mm off one side of an organic Japanese cotton pad and carefully remove the very outer layer from one side. Each side of the pad has a shiny, polished layer on the face. Just remove an extremely thin layer from one face. Cut one end at about a 30 degree slant and roll that end into a point. Gently tug it through the coil. There should be a little resistance, but not enough to spread the coil. Fold the cotton up, like "bunny ears", thread it thru the barrel part of the chimney and screw it to the deck. If you cut your cotton right at the top of that chimney, it will just touch the deck when you tuck it in. PERFECT! Wet the wick with some juice, screw on the top of the chimney and you're off and running. My favorite RTA is my Kayfun V4, but there are A LOT of parts and pieces. Once you get the Kanger down pat, you are ready to take on just about anything. Currently (June, 2015), Kanger has come out with the perfect kit for starters, or anybody else for that matter. The Subox is everything you need to get started, minus the battery and charger. DO NOT bargain shop either ! ! Get your batteries from a reputable source, NOT eBay. Quality charger too, NiteCore or XTAR VC2. For the RDA, I have the Marquis. It has coiling posts that hold your coils in the perfect position while you tighten the screws on the deck.

Remember.....youtube can be a newbies best friend. Happy vaping
