I came across to this question (Im sure there are millions of identical threads on this forum..) But they are all mechanical words all over so it kinda was hard for super noob like myself to understand exactly. So I know that the clearomizer has this wicks in the tanks visible. and cartomizer is just plain metal pipe that contains wicks inside the pipe. what are the benefits by using those two?

How long do they last?

I used some cheap T3 and only lasted about 3 days (I didn't even vaping a lot that time) and started giving me burnt taste or dry hit?

The cartomizer I got with smoketech pyrex glass tube is going strong since Friday. (been 3 days)

My local shop owner recommended the carto just because it only cost $2 to buy new carto.

Cartos are great. Clearomizers can be great. Recommend you watch some YouTube videos on Cartos and clearos. Very helpful. Check out PBusardo, he has several hundred good ones. The clearomizer shoot out at the end of last year was good. BTW, unless you have a very new T3, the old ones used a one piece bottom, the new ones use a two piece bottom, and they are better than the old ones. You have a carto tank setup. Some people think it doesn't get better than that. It's all about personal preference. Personally, I felt it necessary to try many different things, and, of course, have my favorites, but only you can see what's going to work best for you. Welcome and congrats on getting here.

There are pros and cons with both. Clearomizers can hold 2-6 (?) times as much liquid so don't need topping up so often.
Cartomizers do often produce a very good vape, but are disposable in a shorter time-span.
I thought cartos were brilliant until I tried a clearo. Now, I've gone back to cartos, but in a tank AND clearos.
I like the vape on almost anything, so for me, it's a question of not refilling too often and the taste.

The BIG benefit of them is that they are easy to use. Less "fiddle" factor than most other options other than perhaps dripping (which is a bit more laborious but not "fiddly" or error prone).

Generalizations:
Cartos don't have the same wicks as clearos. Cartos are filled with "fluff" or "wrapping" surrounding the coil. It must be saturated with e-juice.
clearos use wicks and a clear tank. Some are "Fat" enclosures, some are cig-a-like in diameter.

Clearos are either top or bottom coil designs. Top coil is common historically.
Cartos have bottom coils or center coils.

Neither last forever. But the most common issue is burning. This happens because they weren't filled and left to wick before using, or they were filled with too-thick juice and couldn't wick fast enough.

Clearos hold more, but I still went through juice pretty fast because they vape like freight trains.
