What are these "Liked" things I'm seeing in my notifications?

I see them referring to posts I wrote. But, I don't see a way to "respond" to them or anything. Is it just somebody stating they liked what I wrote? And that's it?

Just want to make sure I'm not insulting anybody by not responding in some way.

When you enter a response to someone else, or start a good thread, other ECF members can choose "like" on lower right side of your post. Reasons vary. You made sense, it was funny, they agree with you etc....

Actually, they just mean that person approves of your post. You are not expected to respond to them.

If the notifications bug you as much as they bug me, you can turn them off in your Settings. Just FYI.

While I clicked the "Like" button for most of the posts on this thread, that was only because there is no "dislike" button. Therefore you will have to assume that I may like them or I may not like them. The ones that I didn't click the "Like" button on, are only because my "Like" button broke from overuse.
