The Last Ship looks more or less like a classic doomsday-show commissioned by the US Navy PR department.

There's generally a fine line between entertainment and propaganda. With this show, the line is in bold italics. I don't mind. Just gets me stuck studying the technique more than the story.

Started watching Whispers. Looks like another Dome. Some clichéd "who is that mysterious guy" - "who is this cute little girls secret friend", etc and so forth. Sprinkled with your average filler of Family Matters-level drama. Will keep watching. Won't expect much more than the standard dime-a-dozen weekly mystery-carrot shows.
I don't see a lot of resemblence in the two. Having read the story its based off of I can promise you its very different.

I would say the new series Between is very similar to the Dome though. Kind of a cross between that and Jeremiah.

I know! My week felt unsaturated without Wayward... :/

I just saw a commercial for the first time this evening for The Last Ship, how was the first season?

Ha ha very descriptive feelings on Aquarius. What did you not like (despise maybe?) about it?

OOH!!!! Something starting this week is Mr. Robot... It looks really good. Thought I would let everyone know. I've got my DVR primed and ready.
The first ep of Mr. Robot was good. Interested to see where the show goes from there.

The last episode I see at Fox is from June 11
Did you see this week's episode early? I don't see any mention of an ep from last week

I think the entire season of WP is online... The episode Brent watched should premier this week. Or maybe he watched the June 11th episode? The reveals in that episode were major.

I haven't found the whole season available anywhere yet but last weeks episode was uploaded online to tpb last thursday. Definitely not the prior week's episode. This one goes over wayward pines entire history and how everything works and came to be.

Stories may be wildly different, but the storytelling is more or less the same. I may be slightly out of line as that is sort of... the genre.

I'm hoping they plan to conclude with one season, and don't just drag it out to some generic drama like so many other shows.

I wish more shows would tell me a story and move on. In the case of The Dome, it didn't help they didn't have a single interesting/memorable character. They were all just two-dimensional plot devices. Then the plot thins and writers decide to drag it out as a soap-opera while we wait for Godeaux (read: the answer to the remaining singular question : what is the Dome). My point is: at one point there has to be a point. A story needs to have some meaning from start to finish. It's not enough that it lasts nearly forever and has an ending I didn't expect. A good mystery is like an onion, not like a scratch ticket we get to stare at for several seasons before finally scratched.

Indeed, Whispers is not quite there. Hope they don't go there.

Currently watching Sense8. I don't think it needed to be a season. Maybe a tv movie. Interesting concept.
It develops a lot as it goes on. I think it has great potential for at least another couple of seasons. Then again I"m a big JMS fan. Babylon 5 is one of my favorite shows of all time.

Booo, that just ruins it, but not surprised with her other activities. I was thinking cool, she's chill'in out with a vape instead of smoking a cig.
I know, I figured as "progressive" as the show is in other areas it was doing the same there but it seems not. Just furthers the belief that its a drug device when it really isn't. Its clearly ejuice in there and not something you could even really use for that.

Been catching up on the last few episodes of Life Below Zero. I have this thing for Alaska-shows. Don't know why. I just love'em. Also started watching The Last Alaskans. Quite enjoyed it so far. Those little multicopters with cameras on them has done wonders for the genre.

Wasn't my intention to jump on The Last Ship, by the way. It was intended more humorous than it came across in type. It's one of those shows I won't follow throughout the season, but is likely to binge sometime when it's done.

Under the Dome, however. That's fair game. :p

(Wasn't Dome about to start again last night? It's currently in wreck-mode for me. Just can't look away :D)
