So the Volt regular battery comes in two lengths as I believe the cartomizers do as well. I am looking at picking up a few to convert my friends away from regular cigarettes. Now, I'm considering the fact that longer is better (*ahem) due to the better mileage and certainly for my female friends who do or occasionally have smoked longer cigarette types, the 78mm Volt would be desirable all round. Perhaps the XL cartos as well. For the guys however I dunno if the length will turn them off. Then again, a shorter battery life might be a bigger deterrent. So I'm looking for some feedback.

Too I wanted to ask what are peoples top 5 colors and whether they prefer the manual or the auto.

I'm looking for the right combo to get the best possible success rate fro my male and female friends.

Cheers

I prefer the eGo C for size, safety and overall vape and charge time... definitely manual for safety and zero drips on the battery. I prefer black or coated as opposed to stainless for the feel of it. The stainless feels slippery all the time but especially if you get juice on it and is easier to slip out of the hand. I use 650 mah with 2.0 boge cartomizers. Oh, I'm a 5'2" gal. I am thinking about getting an ecig looking manual to use in public from vaping Vamps but it will only be for that purpose.

I prefer automatics, although I've never used a Volt auto. You might as well get the 78mm, because once you start vaping battery life usually becomes more important than size as you know.

I only use black and silver PVs. I like the silver the best because it won't show any scratches as easily as the others, but it can get a bit slippery.

For a new vaper, I'd go with the 78mm batt and standard cartos. The carto will last about as long as the battery charge, and it's a good indication that you need to add liquid, when your battery needs to be charged. I've never used the shorter batts, as less battery life never appealed to me.:D
I do have some of the XL cartos that I got to use with my X2's, but I don't like them as well as the standard ones. They seem to taste different.

as a lady...a lovely 78mm rainbow bat...with a diamond tip colour glow...I love the nice smooth feel in my fingers....mainly when on a night out...many a lady has come my way and said oh I like that....but at home ...bigger bats for sure...I think the nanos are the nicest look on the rainbow 78mm...but nanos are only good for a few refills...as far as im concerned.. which is great for a big night out...my:2c:

Everything about vaping is subjective, just like smoking. That is why there are soooooo many cigarette brands and soooo many vaping mods. Unfortunately you need to spend a small fortune first finding the right battery, mod, voltage, wattage, and so on and so on, then spend another fortune on the right all day vape flavor. FINALLY, (If you do find it), you have no more money left to buy your favorite.

I find the stainless short cartos from SI to be long lasting, flavorful, and they can produce a great vapor. In 3 months I have only gone through 1 pack of 5 stainless cartos. I clean them once a week, let them dry and refill with my favorite juice. The 78s are OK for short vapes. Mine only last about 2 hours, so I prefer the X2 900 mAh for an all day vape.

It all depends on the person. I probably would have given up on the small battery's pretty quick as charging them so often would be a hassle to me. I love my X2 1300mAh as it last me all day. A friend of mine said it looked too big and would never use something like it. He wants to look cool for the girls he never bothers to go out and meet. He would want the small battery i guess.

I hope you get some of those friends converted. I feel so much better since i started to make the switch a month ago. I'm down to a few stinkies a day and woke up today not coughing anything up for the first time in years. :)

At the beginning of the conversion process, I believe the more cig-a-like battery makes the transition easier. Something close to what they are used to. Most definitely the SI Volt battery and regular size cartomizers, the best on the market. Ladies will love the rainbow battery. They are eyecatchers for sure. Also purple... another great "girly" color and we must not forget the "diamond" LED end caps... adding bling! Have a couple of soft comfort tips on hand as well. Ladies will love those too.

Most guys seem to like the black and silver. As for the size, definitely 78mm... longer battery life.

Thanks for the feedback. My figuring is that the minis are good for transition and from there they can choose to move to a bigger battery and other set ups. Still use the mini on occasion when it's more convenient of course. I'm probably looking at getting them a 78mm auto-batt with standard cartos and then suggest the bottom coil T3s and perhaps a step up to the X2 later on.

I just started about 3 months ago, and got my sis hooked about 1 month ago.
For your typical smoker, the little slim is close in appearance. I started with 1 65 and 1 78, both auto. If I had to start with x2 batteries, it would have been awkward. I added a 78 manual pretty quickly. Even with 3 batteries, the constant swapping, and fear of running out when I am away from a plug made me move to an x2.

My sis was adamant on the shape. So I gave her my little batteries. Even though I told her the 78 would last longer, she insisted on 65's, so I ordered her one. Now she complains about the charge only lasting 1 hr, and taking 2 to charge up. So I got her a second charger, so she can be charging 2, vaping 1, and 1 on stand by.

Finally, I got fed up with it and bought her a pink x2 650 for xmas... She went from hating big batteries to loving it.

The moral to the story is once we start vaping, it is easy to recommend the best options. However, getting over preconceptions, and getting friends to start vaping is the key. If it is easier for them to take the leap with little white 65 auto's, then do it.... Once they start complaining about charging and rotating batteries, point them to the x2's. It is a good step up, and you retain compatibility.

If you have the funds to do it, "buy back" the little 65's, and sell them to other friends to help them quit... you can do this multiple times.

In terms of length, the 65 + standard carto is already the length of 100's cigarettes. The capacity of a regular carto will exceed any small battery.. Going to a long carto doesn't add much value to a person just starting out. OTOH, the 78 battery might be worth it.

The most important thing is to get them to give it a try. While a white auto 65 + regular carto is not good for regular vapers, for a beginner, it could be the easiest transition. If you have more advanced hardware, once they are vaping, you can explain pluses and minuses, and help them move up. It worked for me, and my sister....

Sorry for the long post, but I think the hardest part is getting smokers started, after that... that's when the fun begins.

With the minis, I think the standard size cartos make more sense. The XLs are longer (to fit in tanks), but they don't really hold much more than the standard size - so you'd still be topping off just as frequently.
Between the minis, definitely go with the 78s. The batt life of the 65s can be a little frustrating.
I personally prefer manuals, but a vast majority prefer autos...so maybe a mix of each for your friends to try?
My fave colors:
1. Rainbow
2. Orange
3. Lime Green
4. Yella
5. Silver (chrome)

That said, my fave size is the X2 650mAh, and shopping around for a carto tank now.

Like others have said, it's completely subjective. For people converting though, I think something close to an analog is best. I started out with a 65mm automatic and standard, pre-filled cartos. Given the differences in taste and feel from cigarettes, vaping definitely takes some getting used to, so (IMO) the closer you can get to an analog, the easier the transition will be. I started around nine months ago with an auto and pre-filled cartos, and now use nanos and CE3s with an X2 / ego when I'm at work (it's nice not worrying about having to charge with the passthrough), and have both manual and automatic slim batteries (from SI and a few other vendors) for when I'm out. The manual definitely has its advantages, and SI's manuals are quite nice given that the button is recessed...I've gotten 2 and lost both, unfortunately, but may have to order another one when funds are available...hopefully third time will be a charm.

ETA: Just updated my blog with a pretty lengthy commentary on the available "basic" battery options (manual vs. auto vs. X2). Not sure if I'm allowed to post links here, but if anyone wants to have a look, PM me for the address.

I'm kinda new still..but adapted really fast. I am still kind of enamoured with the cig-a-like form factor and have a fairly decent array of colors in the 78s. Rainbow was my first choice also. I also have a couple of the holiday stripe batteries though they're probably gone now :(
My other colors at the moment are purple, copper, pink and WAIT.. my daughter absconded with my purple battery! lol.. actually I donated it to her.. but I digress

for me, color was kind of why I settled in at SI.. more choices. I didn't want black white and silver being my only choices. Hubby wanted red first.. then blue, and his third battery is silver. (he calls it red white and blue but it's really the silver. He didn't like the carts because he couldn't see his juice so we went with nano's over carts.

For noobs.. if they prefer to see the juice.. nano is the way to go.
