I just ordered a dual 18650 Dimitri box mod... Now I have been building my coils for about 2 years now and know a fair amount. But this would be my first dual 18650 mod.. I want to be as safe as I can so I'll get some advice from the users who use it!

So, what is the best build? I was thinking of maybe a 3ohm coil around 1/8 post using 28g kanthal a1.. My normal build is a 28g 1.0-1.8 microcoil. I have 30,28,and 26 gauge kanthal a1. I think my normal build will be full of stupidity and an uncomfortable hot vape.... But I may be wrong. So any advice would help! Thanks

So... no replies in nearly a day, 'eh rx8? I'm not surprised. ;-)

I'd imagine that your mod is wired in parallel, so current potential is doubled, as load, per battery, is halved. Please read this article from Battery University , so that you have a better understanding of what a parallel battery configuration can provide.

I suggest that you run your favorite build/wattage through the Steam Engine (SE) coil modeling calculator, and determine what your preferred "heat flux" is. When you've arrived at that value, you will have a baseline from which to adjust temperatures up or down... using resistance values, wire gauge and parallel coil count.

Heat flux is the coil radiant heat value expressed in milliwatts per millimeter of surface area, squared. Along with coil net resistance / surface area, heat flux is one of the most important values you can manipulate.

Remember that, with an unregulated mod, the only amperage / wattage "control" is via net resistance, per Ohm's Law calculation. Your box mod can discharge as little as 5-6 watts with a 3.0Ω net resistance... or in excess of 250 watts with an extremely deep sub-ohm build.

If you've not used SE before, click on the first and second hyperlinks below... one for the SE program, the other an SE users guide.

In my defense, there's a Gilmore Girls marathon on.

Question, do the amps double with two batteries run in serial, or just the volts?

In serial, mA/mAh stays the same but voltage is doubled. e.g., if you have two 4V 2000mAh batteries in parallel, it looks like one 4V 4000mAh battery. In serial, it looks like 8V 2000mah -- amperage/current stays the same for serial, and governed by the C value for a single battery.

I think. I dunno Lorelai just said something cute so I'm distracted.

Just use your regular build.
The 2 batteries in parallel just mean you can twice as much capacity, and more amps overhead.
