What cartridges/tips for a new mod user

Going to buy my first mod and not sure about what cartridge to purchase (spoiled by the tank system). Smart carts seem to be the way to go for me, but a little confused as to filling them. A needle is required right? Or should I go with something else entirely. Zip tips, drip tips, I don't know. Help!

Sorry. 3.7v Prodigy V3 w/501 threads. Probably upgrade to the 6v at somepoint.
