So now that we have this great BIG sub-forum space...but a remaining love for our old Official - SmokelessImage.com - Thread. Lets have our first Community Poll
What a dilemma lol. The choice that isn't up there is don't close it or use it for our chat thread.Just leave it alone. As for using it as our chat thread my last post there explains why I won't be using it for that. Too hard to find things and it takes longer to load. On the other hand I see no harm in leaving it open. I don't think most of us will try to use it as a main chat thread with another simpler shorter one available, as well as having the "specialty" threads for photos, instructions etc. But if we do what harm is it? I guess my vote would be to leave it alone for a while and see what happens, then poll it again but after looking at the current results a lot of us want it closed now. I'm not going to click on the poll and just see what happens. Whatever ya'll decide is fine with me. I'm just glad to be a part of this community.
I'm not real clear on what 'closing' it does. If it means the thread would remain for reading only, but no new posting I would be in favor of that. Just so 'closing' a thread doesn't mean vaporizing it. Sorry, that word just fit somehow. 
I'd guess it's colored from the American Flag and maybe spinning to attract attention? My best shot at it lol.
Since I know this one - learned a long time ago when I start one of "My" earlier Professions - I am going to give a HINT . . .
Think of who who might have gone to if you had a toothache or didn't feel well. . .
Now as to the original question and survey . . .
This is quit a perplexing quandary for "Me", as it may be for others . . . I already stated why I asked the Original Smokeless Image thread be re-opened . . . I wanted to be able to put some closure to what was being said there and so I could move to the other discussions that were happening in the New Smokeless Image Forum - but now with the possibility that the thread is going to be left open it brings up some other additional thoughts . . .
First, to be very honest - I really liked the true camaraderie that the original thread held for "US", especially since the conversation just flowed from discussion to another discussion - similar to what happens in real life . . . AND - anytime you wanted to pass over something or just jump-in you did . . . but everyone got to see what people were talking about or going though without jumping from one thread to another . . .
Well the same can be said about all the different threads . . . everyone can still see what people are "generally" talking about in the thread title . . . AND - anytime you want to pass over something or just jumbo-in you can . . . But more importantly, this time unless you actually open the thread you do not know what others are saying . . .
Good - Bad ? ? ? Who knows really - it is an individual thing
I know for "Me" - if a title of a thread doesn't interest me at all - I pass it by, especially if I have a lot of other things to do or that I want to read . . . However, if there is nothing else for "Me" to do and I am just hanging out I might open another thread to see what is happening in other peoples lives and what they are talking about . . . Which means I do lose out on a lot of "STUFF" . . .
There are so many other things to be considered too - but it might take a whole 'nother thread to just list them . . .
SO - in the final analysis - I think the original one thread brought "Us" closer to one another and the New Forum will allow us to become more diverse - but still allow "Us" to be one community . . .
Given this - as long as I still have "My" Blue Room w/ the Turret on the 2nd floor and can have a discussion with those who I want to about Smokeless Image and the Volt, including all the interesting things in everyone lives - I will just go with the flow on this one . . .
However, once everyone has had a chance to reply to others in the Original Smokeless Image Thread (and the few others comments are moved to the appropriate threads) and/or post a "Good-Bye", I am voting the the Original Smokeless Image Thread be "Closed" to any further entries - but left/archived for everyone to view & search . . .
(EDIT: BTW: I really would like to see it continue as Our "Chit-Chat" Thread though - too . . . )

I say close it, but make it still available as a "read-only" thread (lots of valuable info in there). Time to let go and move on, and start new, easier-to-find threads for new info...but I was a little bummed out when it didn't hit 20K when it was closed the first time(yeah, I get a little OCD and watch a lot of Monk too).
I say close it. I like the multiple thread idea much better for different topics. I used to go cross eyed trying to keep up with just one thread with everything in it. If its read only we can always go back for nostalgia and we can always cut and paste a chat topic from the old thread if we want to rehash something into the new thread? lol...
I think since we have a new chat thread, close it with the first and final post being a link to SI's new forum. It could have a title update to "In the Beginning Chatter" or "The Way We Were" or something actually clever.

Although I've lurked here for some months, I havn't been here long enough to vote but if I were going to I'd vote close it but keep it.

My only concern with keeping the mega-thread open is that people will go back to just using that one thread and we won't have the benefit of separate threads for valuable info. If it stays open, will you guys promise to limit posts to general chit chat?

SI has it's own subforum now!!! YIPPEEE! CONGRATULATIONS!
And I voted for "close (but keep)." Far, far less risk of confusion that way, and poor Imagine won't have to spend her days running back and forth between sites.
