So I have a couple of devices that I like and hate at the same time. A lava tube mini, an ego twist, and a smok telescope. All of which work flawlessly with one exception. I hate the fact that they all have no texture to them and become extremely slick throughout the day. Even more so with me than normal I would assume because I tend to be covered in hydraulic fluid alot at work. So what do you guys do to texture your devices that have a smooth finish? I wrapped my lava tube in medical tape but I constantly need to rewrap because eventually the tape gets pretty gross. I tried plasi dip on the ego but after about 20 minutes of use it starts to peel up. I tried grip tape on the bottom portion of my telescope but when I'm in 18350 mode the top cannot be wrapped. I really like the grip tape I just wish I could wrap the length of the non threaded tubing. so what do you all do for your slippery devices? I recently took some thread and wrapped the telescope which so far is working fantastic but it will need to be redone occasionally until I can pick up some black thread which won't show how dirty it is. just wondering what you all do or if I am the only one who hates a slippery device.

I don't know if we mean the same kind of grip tape, but I know there are skate shops in Sandy Eggy that have sheets of grip tape for skateboard decks. You could wrap all your devices and have enough left over for about 10 freinds from one sheet. We probably don't mean the same thing though, that stuff is pretty rough.
J-wraps has wraps but even the carbon fiber one, to me, isn't all that grippy or textured.

I use Con-Tact vinyl. Found a roll at Home Depot for $7.00. There's enough on that roll to last me until I'm 127 years old, even though I have to replace it every couple of months. My roll is black with a pebbled texture, but it comes in a bewildering variety of prints and textures.

awesome. seems I'm not the only one whose thought about this. I meant exactly grip tape from a skateboard. works amazingly well and doesn't retain any juices or fluids. While it may give you some rough hands for me it doesn't matter as their rough already anyways lol. Innertube is a great idea and one I never would have thought of. My problem with rubber bands is I can't have anything that comes off or breaks that I could possibly loose. Never know where it will end up and since I spend 90 percent of my day working on an aircraft I can't take that risk. I though about using vinyl wrap but it doesn't seem very textured to me or at least not as textured as I would like but I have never seen any of the pebbly stuff you mentioned as the only vinyl wrap I've used has been for cars so it tends to be either smooth or carbon fiberish. I looked at the wrap site posted above and most of it is just kind of eh in my opinion (not to offend anybody). I like to keep it low key and as stealth as possible so alot of those crazy in your face colors don't do it for me. Great suggestions everybody. I've got some things to give a whirl now thanks

I've used the shrink tubing on flashlights a few times and if you get it big enough you could wrap medical tape around in a couple of spots and create a rigid grip before shrink tubing

Nice idea. Create "ridges" to make it even more slip-proof. I like it.

or you could try a j-wrap... they're inexpensive, and they add a little "eye candy" to your mod. duct tape is well and good if you're ballin on a budget but... I have an R2D2 skin on my mod and it looks AWESOME. http://www.jwraps.com/ - they're also vinyl, so... water/juiceproof, and they don't leave any residue when you take them off. they're actually removable/restickable when you get them (I miswrapped mine and just peeled it off and realigned it).

... and he does custom wraps if your device isn't on there, or if you want a picture of your kid or Captain America or something crazy like that. ;)
